Tony Pulis has added Newcastle attacker Sammy Ameobi to his list of summer transfer targets at West Bromwich Albion. The Hawthorns manager is keen to take Ameobi on a free transfer but will face competition from Everton and Real Sociedad, who are managed by David Moyes.
Ameobi is expected to end a seven-year association with Newcastle at the end of the season and with no imminent prospect of a new contract on the table, Pulis is ready to move for the 22-year-old as he attempts to inject more pace into his attack.
Ameobi, the younger brother of former Newcastle forward Shola, has also been targeted by Moyes for a move to Spain but the opportunity to stay in the Premier League would undoubtedly appeal.
Albion are scouring Europe for potential signings and Dave Kemp, Pulis's assistant, flew to Italy to watch two Serie A games on Sunday.
The club's immediate focus, however, is on avoiding relegation to the Championship after suffering three successive defeats. Pulis faces a trip to former club Crystal Palace this weekend insisting there is still work to be done.
