Preston North End are delighted to confirm Liam Lindsay has extended his stay at Deepdale.
The central defender has signed a contract which will see him remain a PNE player until at least the summer of 2027.
Linds has made 140 appearances during his time with the Lilywhites, including every match of the 2023/24 Sky Bet Championship season, for which he earned the club’s Players’ Player of the Year award.
Liam said: “I’m really happy. I’ve really enjoyed the time I’ve been here so I’m looking forward to it.
“I love every part of it – the players, the staff, the environment. I’m delighted to stay.”
The 29-year-old initially joined the club on loan from Stoke City in February 2021, before that move was made permanent in the summer.
Since then, Liam has made himself a regular feature in the North End backline and as a result of his performances he earned a first call-up to the Scotland national team in October 2024.
The defender was also named the 2023/24 Championship Player of the Season at the Northwest Football Awards.
Manager Paul Heckingbottom added: “I’m really pleased Liam’s staying with us. It’s great that he wants to commit to the club when he had the option to run his contract down to be a free transfer in the summer.
“He’s been a key player for this club for a few years now and he’s started most games for us so far this season, too.
“I worked with Liam at Barnsley so I knew what type of player and person he was when I came in, and I think he’s got better and better over the years. He’s a great lad with a top attitude and he’s been solid for us at the back.”
