I'm not sure when the old fella first took me to Leeds Road, then again he took us everywhere he could from Burnley to Leeds and everywhere in between, so if I ever saw him play for us I sure as hell don't recall it, but for some reason, even though I wasn't a Blue Manc fan or Red Manc fan, if and when I scored a goal in my junior school days, my cuffs or jumper sleeves were always pulled down over my hands and I raised an arm with and index finger sticking out in celebration.

When he read the eulogy at George Best's funeral, hs first line, as he looked at the coffin, was along the lines of "I wouldn't have been surprised if he didn't turn up today". A sense of humour that took him through all the good times and the recent bad times that were to follow for himself. Whilst Jimmy Greaves was the master of passing the ball into the back of the net from the edge of the box inwards, this guy was more often than not sticking a toe out or his head on anything in the six yard box, going where others feared to tread (or head). Loved that back heel that relegated United though, even though he could have stepped over it. I reckon that was an fy to Docherty for letting him go when he clearly still had it.
