Cheers for that SCO. Maybe I mixed you up with one of our former corrrespondents. I've likely been very close to your back yard on more than a few occasions in the past in that case.
Company I used to work for had it's global HQ in Warrenville, many former colleagues lived in the Naperville to Glen Ellyn area, along with Downers Grove and Oak Brook. I've had more than just a few beers in bars on Butterfield Road and elsewhere in all those parts, from the approx addresses I can recall. Not to mention a few burgers in downtown Windy City and the Billy Goat Tavern. Hell, I knew my way to that place better than some of the "locals". One of my former colleagues' folks used to live in Elgin and I've lost a lot of little white balls on big green fields (well, mostly in their lakes) round those parts too in years gone by. Small world innit? Pretty sure we never met though. A Wendies fan and a Town fan meeting out there would have bored the arse off the locals. Now if you wanted to discuss "Da Bears v Da Cheesheads" or talk about a certain downtown basketball team at the time ...Jordan, Pippen, Barkely, Rodman ... they couldn't buy you enough beers and platters of wings.
Gimme English football any day of the week.
PS - that's the original one on Lower Michigan beneath the shadows of The Wrigley Building and The Tribune Tower

A guide to cask ale.
