I don't think you're entirely wrong, but I don't think I'm wrong either. It's obsessively cynical but there's no way this sort of money is floating about with an absence of corruption. It doesn't seem feasible to me.
Copa America is corrupt as fook there's definitely back handers going on, I saw plenty of games when I lived over there. It's proper banana republic football
From what I can ascertain, FIFA/UEFA are dolling out prize money based on participation, stage progress and other arbitrary FIFA crap.
