Colchester United have signed striker Conor Wilkinson from Scottish Premiership side Motherwell for an undisclosed fee.
Wilkinson, 28, only joined the Steelmen from Walsall in the summer and scored four goals in 19 appearances.
Colchester, who are 22nd in League Two, have not disclosed the length of Wilkinson's contract.
Wilkinson is expected to go straight into the U's squad for Saturday's game at Swindon Town.
"Conor has been given the opportunity for more game time and a move closer to home," said Motherwell boss Stuart Kettlewell.
"We had a very good discussion during the negotiations and we both thought it best that this move should go ahead."
