Yes I know it's been closed for a while as the brewery couldn't find someone daft enough to pay their rent demands.
That someone then broke in and vanadalised the place whilst it was being (or just had been) sold and then someone decided to burn it to the ground .... um, quite. Follow the money. Put the twat that bought it in prison. Who else is responsible for this vandalism? Sue me if I'm wrong.
I can't keep every desparate pub open (gawd knows I've done my best since I was 18 years old (ahem). I'm sure a few more on here have chipped in) but I despair at outright vandalism of this kind. Turning them into "other accomodation" at least protects the building and it's history even if another community asset is no longer used for it's rightful historical purpose. It still lets you walk past and reminisce of ale/wine/spirits filled days/evenings of years gone by.
Sorry if I'm having a bit of a rant on this, but once in a while you need to vent. I've been down here almost as long as I lived up Nooerth, I'd be just as pissed off if some clown burned down The Piece Hall.
Any road, Town play Leicester on Saturday .... someone else is in charge of that bit of history.
