NIMBY'ism in it's purest form, but because it's also IYBY'ism that's just fine. Fracking works great in regions where the land is flat and the underlying geology is in pretty much predictable layers. This isn't a surprise that almost of all it in the States is on the mid-west flatlands between the Rockies and the Blue Mountains where the rock strata is about as predictable as a red-neck voting for Trump, even if he doesn't know why, other than he can keep his shot-gun in his flat-bed (pick-up), his carbine behind his screen door and a pair of Glocks under his pillow.
We live on a highly fractured lump of rock on the east end of the North Atlantic. Yes it's down there, but it is 6 down, 2 across, 3 up, 25 down, a few more across, continue ad nauseum. Also, where is all the water required for this fruitless activity suddenly going to come from? Haven't they heard of hosepipe bans?
