Whilst travelling from Aberdeen to Inverurie earlier this year we found ourselves driving past the Highland League ground of Formartine United. Unfortunately the season had just finished but my wife spotted an open door so having stopped the car we went in for a look!!

We met the groundsman who was doing some post season work on the pitch but stopped what he was doing to give us a detailed history of the club and gave us a guided tour which involved the "boardroom" and the changing rooms. Behind the one goal by some advertising boards he pointed out a ground nest with eggs of an Oyster catcher..........he told us the pair return each year to nest in the same place.........good job Formartine weren't involved in any play offs!!
