If the £10m deal touted for Rodriguez is true, I think it will be a good deal for the club.
Good pro who always works really hard, but didn't really look anything special last year in the Championship and if you take his penalties away, was hardly prolific. The days of him being a Premier League player are long gone IMO.
I believe that the insistence of playing both Gayle and Rodriguez together last season was actually a poor decision as one of them was always out of position.
If Jenkins and Dowling have their heads screwed on, they would cash in on both Rodriguez and Rondon and invest in Gayle and a younger player as backup. Gayle would score even more if he has a number 10 behind him rather than playing with Rodriguez. Maybe Krovinovic would suit that role.
Of course, this is unlikely to happen and we'll probably end up without any proven strikers for next season.
