Ayr boss Ian McCall reckons lethal Lawrence Shankland is the best Britain has to offer.
United's hotshot took his tally to an incredible 50 goals in 50 starts in their win over Alloa.
Shankland scored twice and set up Alan Forrest for another as Ayr eased top of the Championship.
And McCall said: "There won't be another striker in Britain who can match Lawrence's record.
"To score 50 goals in 50 starts is unreal and it's real Roy of the Rovers stuff."
Shankland and Ayr were far from their outstanding best on Tuesday night but ran out comfortable winners.
