The EU themselves are pushing for NI to be a special case within the UK because of the land border and the ramifications of a hard border being put in place"



Oh please. Of course there is a land border with the EU but the backstop only becomes an issue because the UK cant find a solution to the border off their own backs. Which they cant because of the DUP. Any special treatment will have to be on their terms (not northern irelands despite their border counties all voting remain) or they will sink the tories budget. If that wasn't the case may would have caved in at salzburg.

You are mistaken about the EU as well, leaked papers show they are more than prepared to offer scotland a separate deal but it would require willingness on behalf of westminster to make that happen. But anyhow i'll take 'special treatment' in the form of the return of ALL our 100 plus EU/devolved related powers back at holyrood and regulatory alignment of the same kind being proposed for NI... If they get it.
