Got to agree, just a strange statement. So we sign up and get first look at the kit, wow, thats a great offer!!
I'm guessing that only a limited amount of all their existing email contacts have been ars**ed to re-sign up under the new data protection rules so this is just a teaser way to remind/get them to do that with shirts being important to the masses. Then the updated list can be used to target them with ticket or merchandising offers (including 3rd party ads which generate revenue) so in my mind not really too bizarre at all as part of marketing in the larger sense.
