This is a curious story and a scathing inflammatory criticism of the Dutch govt by the Turkish President, Erdogan, with robust diplomatic punishment meted out as well. Noticeable that the rallies that were requested to be held in the Netherlands were permitted in France with no incidents noted. So why has the Dutch PM/govt imposed an undemocratic line on Turkish residents? I'd say it's called fear of another anti immigration populist political movement led by a rival named De Wilders! A Dutch general election is looming and the govt did not want it's chance for re-election to be diminished by giving their right-wing opponents any kinda leverage leading up to such a crucial period in Dutch politics. Curious indeed and who knows if this ban could well backfire in their faces!
