If that's not going back to the 1950s I don't know what is. In one interview he even suggested women who have abortions should be punished. He's talked about imposition limits on the press. And with the NR As support it will be back to the old Wild West. If you want to keep givio him the benefit of the doubt that's your call SCO but I call a spade a spade. He's a very mean and nasty man.
At the moment he cannot stack the Supreme Court, he has one place to fill only and even then they cannot just reverse Roe v Wade. The rest of the current court is generally split 4-4, but I doubt that they are split that way when it comes to abortion. Even if he does appoint a conservative judge then there still has to be a legal challenge to the original ruling and that will take ages to get to the Supreme Court.
What choice do we have but to give him some time???? It's great that people are upset but it won't change anything, 59m people voted for him all we have is a hope it won't be as bad a we fear. My opinion of him as a human being means sod all, I don't like him nor what he has said but he has been democratically elected.

Technically yes they could have done something. They could not deny him the candidacy as he won the vote in the primaries, but they could have put up an alternative. The problem is by doing that you run the risk of completely splitting the party and if they had been successful he would have stood as an independent and completely split the republican vote. Republicans more than anything else did not want Hillary, so they will take Trump and a win over that any day. A lot of Republicans have similar fears to democrats now, but they hope to be able to control him while in power.
