Rotherham United @ New York Stadium 5/11/2016

A game we should have put to bed way before the Millers had us clinging on for a period of ten minutes before we eventually got a third to take the points at the New York Stadium.
A distincly chilly afternoon in Yorkshire saw McGeady retun to the team after his injury in the Villa game, that was the only change to the team that lost against the Toon last week.
Almost from the kick off the Millers almost scored when a speculative effort from about 40 yards went narrowly wide, quite happy to see is go wide as I suspect was Maxwell in the North End goal. Robinson missed a good chance from about 10 yards to put us ahead as North End dominated the game. Although on top United twice came close to scoring Maxwell saving one effort and a Gallagher header was stopped from heading into his own net by the rare sight of a player on the line clearing. (Pringle)
North End took the lead halfway through the half Cunningham's cross found the head of Hugill in it went, within five minutes it was two, McGeady fed a dummy to the hapless full back, quality cross Robinson header on the way to three points. Rotherham rallied Maxwell did well to save a swerving effort from Maxwell but at half time North End were comfortable.
Early seconde half pressure from the home side eventually petered out and it was all North End, only troubkle they missed several chances to kill the Millers off but missed the lot, Robinson being the culprit wanting to beat everyone in the area before trying to line up a shot. Saying that though he had a good game.
The Millers reduced the arrears with 19 to go another cross from the left and Wood beat Clarke to a header from close range and it was game on.
The Millers had brought on Odemwingie at half time and fair play to him he caused us problem,s as did the millions of long throws they had. After the goal it was all hands to the pumps as the ball was wanged into the North End box from all parts of the pitch, the home fans shouted for at least 20 penalties which they didnot get. It was almost 2 all when Maxwell was bailed out by his defence about 20 yards out however from the following play Johnson broke down the left wing slid the ball across the face of the goal where substitute Vermijl clinched the victory. We had several chances to finish with more goals Beckford should have buried a header but in the end a satisfactory result. McGeady had a great game on his return, Robinson also did well. So on to another International break three points away from the play offs, with Welsh, Browne, Pearson and May all to return their is going to be competition for places. Have to say not looking to bad at the moment although still need 27 points to ensure being in this league next season/.

Rotherham United 1 Preston North End 3 Att 10013

Interesting to note that since we sold Garner we have started to rack up the goals scored, coincidence!!!!

Rotherham manager Kenny Jackett: " "It's deflating for the players because you need to stay in games.

"We didn't do enough and we didn't have a defensive solidity about us that could keep us in the game.

"I am learning about the players and trying to find the best combination for us.

"We have quite clearly given away far too many goals this season. Since I've come in, we have conceded six goals in three games and it's very difficult to get points under those circumstances."

Preston manager Simon Grayson: " "We warned the players about Kenny being new to the club and him being desperate to get out of the run they have been on.

"We were professional and started the game well. We played some good stuff but also mixed it up and battled and scrapped when we had to do.

"I was really pleased with the individual and the team performance. It was a professional performance from us.

"We are pleased with how we are progressing but we won't get carried away. We will just keep plodding away and see where it takes us. Anything could happen for any club in this division because it's relentless."
Have you heard about the news on Mizar 5
