2016/17 (Jan 30 Update) WBA January Transfer Window
I can't believe that some people are starting to rant about Tony Pulis (again) on the strength of at best tenuous/highly dubious links made by some rubbish journalist!
Maybe have a go IF we sign some camel from Pork Scratching Reserves,  but let's keep the Pulis bashing till then, eh?  Doh

"Free agent Leon Best is training with the Baggies at the moment in order to keep fit.

The 29-year-old striker needed somewhere to train and Albion decided to help him out."

West Brom striker Saido Berahino, 22, is willing to stay at the club until his contract runs out next summer and leave on a free transfer to join a club in Europe. (ESPN)

I think that's fine as long as he's fit, motivated and committed. I'd rather have Berahino up from with Rondon than most of the names with which have recently been linked

That is just being spiteful, we spotted him, nurtured him, made him the player that he is. Rather than let the club gain some reward for their work, effort and faith in him he'll run down his contract and go abroad so that we get nothing. I always liked the lad but his childish behaviour is souring the good memories.

I'd be really unhappy if Jonny Evans left and even more unhappy if Ciaran Clark arrived

4Eva, I assume he's now looking at the options (Stoke, Palace and Watford) and not being overly keen on them and thinking that, with no or marginal transfer fee next year, his options would be greater. I can't say I blame him, I suspect we'd all take the best personal option for our career or next job move if we had the chance, not that many of us do. When he signed his last contract, I assume both he and the club were happy to do so and he's now completing that contract, seems fair enough. All clubs know that, with a finite contract, their player can leave for no transfer fee at the end of it, hence their wish to sell early if the player doesn't want to stay beyond it. In Berahino's case that's not an option he wants to consider now. Like you, I thought his behaviour last year with regard to the Spurs saga was very poor and his performances then reflected that attitude. However, he has another year to run on his contract and, accepting he's leaving anyway, I'm happy to get a good season out of him rather than replace with a sub standard player just so we can money for him.

I was led to believe that despite Berahino being at the end of his contract the Club were awarded a figure of compensation based on the time he spent at our Academy etc. I am probably mistaken but I am sure I read that somewhere. Following yesterday's performance we certainly need to improve our squad very quickly!
