England- Euro16

How much were the tickets, Wakey? Only reason I can think for it not being a sell out is cost. With excitement for the Euros increasing, how can a match like this not sell, unless it was over priced?

44,866. Official attendance.

As with all games ticket prices vary depending on where in the ground you're sat.

Family enclosure tickets were £20 adults £10 children

Elsewhere in the ground the prices started at £25adults, £15children (Cat4)
Up to £55adults,£45children (Cat1)

Any England Travel club member(over 14,000 of us) could buy a ticket for anywhere in the ground for £20 so being a Yorkshireman I bought the £55 tickets for just £20, smashing padded seat in the middle tier.

Sounds reasonable enough then.
My excuse for not going is that I didn't even know they were playing until rain stopped play at the French Open and as I was channel hopping to see what else was on, whilst listening to Halifax in the FA Trophy on the radio, stumbled across ITV showing some football.

Even though I had read your article, Wakey. Hadn't noted the dates.

I think overall the prices are reasonable, I don't think it helped by having Non-Legue finals day on the same day, well done to Morperth and Halifax by the way and a great crowd at Wembley. It also doesn't help when you play the FA Cup final at Wembley just 24hrs before this.

Next up Australia at the Stadium of Light on Friday night, it'll be interesting to see what crowd turns out for that

Marcus Rashford set to make his full England debut on Friday, good on the lad but hopefully we don't take him to the Euros.

In other news it's been announced yesterday that alcohol will only be served in the fan zone and selected bars in Lens from 6am on the day of the Wales game through until 6am the following morning. Anyone caught drinking on the streets or in the parks will be fined.
Now I can see why they've done this but I can't help feel it's a little OTT. 100,000 England and Wales fans are expected to arrive in Lens for the game and officially only 5000 from each country have tickets to the match which by the way is being held at the smallest capacity ground in the tournament, the fan zone also reflects the size of the Town with a limit of 10000, i can see it kicking off.

England v Wales in the Euro's in France was always going to kick off. As countries, they just don't like each other.
On a slightly different note, I remember watching a documentary years ago about the organised hooligan gangs.
The 2nd in command of the England one was a Welshman. He said in the interview that they have nationalities from all over the world in the gang because everyone wants to fight the English.
I guess we'll never lose the tag of the "English disease"

Rooney 2-0. But where was the marking? Get Davidson on.

Great finish from Dire. Rolleyes

Can't believe Rashford, everything he touches turns to gold.

Anyway a sell out crowd in the home section according to the FA but you could still see spaces knocking around. For the majority of the game a better atmosphere only let down...and badly by the Sunderland supporters who booed Andros Townsend, now I get they don't like anyone who plays for Newcastle and thought it was funny when they booed him coming on as a sub but how ridiculous of them to boo every time he got near or touched the ball...embarrassing to say the least.
