18/04/2016 : Mark Warburton's press conference today. It was wide ranging so posting it here.
Key points were that the squad would remain lean in the SPL, but the loan market could be used to cover the extra demands of European football, should we win the SFA Cup Final.

Eh, I think we could be doing without it being quite as lean as it was on Sunday. We were only missing 4 players and couldn't fill the bench. 3 guys were involved who, while they've done a job this season at times, are in all likelihood on the way out as they're not deemed good enough. All things considered I'd say we've been pretty fortunate on the injury front this season and I don't think we can count on that again next year, particularly where key positions are concerned. It'll be interesting to see what happens with the younger players who've been out on loan in the summer and where any of them fit in the manager's plans.

Id like to keep Ball for another year.

I think Shiels might get another contract, not so sure about law.- not sure if Bell's situation but he's a decent enough back up keeper.

We need cover right across the defence, and attacking midfielder and a striker.

Let's see who else is on Warburton's secret list kept under his magic hat.

Sure but it's nice to think the guy signing players actually knows what he's doing.

Well we know we've got Windass and Crooks coming in, so that mitigates some of the losses we'll have in midfield (Zelalem leaving too of course), and from what I gather Crooks can also play in defence. Players who can play in a few different positions might be high on our list of targets.

Zelalems lack of physicality was highlighted again yesterday - he just won't tackle or try and win the ball.

A luxury in an old firm game.

Yeah, I was a bit conflicted about him in that game. There were moments where his confidence and composure on the ball were invaluable in keeping possession, but in those games you also need your midfielders to close down, pressurise and get stuck in. Some players just don't have that in their locker.

Still, it was reassuring to have a German in the side when it went to penalties!

From what i've been told by a Spurs supporting mate, is Ball is signing an extension and coming straight back up on loan again. I would imagine a lot was dependant on us gaining promotion, from what he is telling me there is a midfielder coming up as well. How true this is remains to be seen, but it would be a great signing.

Quite a compliment :

Rangers boss Mark Warburton just like Walter Smith, says Andy Goram

... and if Neil Lennon returns to Celtic, the author (not me) of this GIF will have to update it ! Laugh

Ah right, he must mean the '91 - '98 Walter Smith, not the '07 - '11 Walter Smith, because the difference in playing style between Warburton's current style and the previous Smith/McCoist incarnations is like comparing night and day.

Or like the Paleolithic compared to the Modern Age.
