Same old argument anytime someone questions whether what is essentially a pub pastime is labelled a sport.  Not denying it requires a level of skill developed through practice but for me a sport is where you need not only the skill to play it but require a level of fitness to simply be able to perform effectively.  Formula 1 might be rich little boys but they become that often due to the rewards of the contracts, Hamilton didn't grow up wealthy but neither was he poor, but the level of personal fitness to be an F1 driver along with the skill required make it a sport for me.

There are exceptions of course, dart and snooker being two predominantly British ones, but I still cannot seriously take darts as a sport!!

Darts you need loads of stamina !! sometimes games start at 7pm and go on untill 11 pm !! after 8 pints it get realy hard to aim the arrows  Whistle this in Holland is almost impossible as after 8 submarines and a puff of various ciggys !! you alomost always end up hitting the barmaids tittys with the arrows  Tongue

Sport or not, it makes cracking viewing IMO Cool

I'm off to watch a few of the Olympic 'sports' now. A bit of synchronised swimming or maybe a lass running about a square with a ribbon Whistle

or even a winter sport like standing up on a sledge Big Grin
