Feb 1st (Final Day): WBA January 2016 Transfer Window
Not that I agree with it but Brunty will start as LB against Man City.
To be fair he has a done a great job slotting in for the last 2 seasons but that was as makeshift cover. Just find it a bit worrying that we might be shelling out £5 mill for a keeper when a LB seems a priority to me.
Yes Brunty delivers a great set play but...
Anyone agree ?

Yup.
Brunty has taking a lot of stick in the last 18 months - IMO undeserved - but he's always done his best for the team. LB just ain't his position - not got the pace needed. Still worth his place in the team - or at least the squad, tho.  Thumb up
Find it incredible that Poco is never picked, or that we haven't got another LB in  Huh

Michu really seems to have lost momentum after his injury and time away from England. Time was he was red hot at Swansea.

I'm quoting Press reports. The £40k was the plan, but talks with his previous agent (who he's since parted ways with, thank f) were stalled. To be honest, I don't know where Albion are with it.

EM reporting sources in Belgium stating we have tabled a 11 million euro bid for this kid, Dennis Praet from Andelecht, he has already played over 100 games for them at 21.  I hope so and that we do get him (Vile are already sniffing).

No lack of ambition here (if true)

Latest Newcastle, Southhampton, Everton and Athletico Madrid now also showing an interest, but we are the only ones with an offer apart from Seville who have bid 6 million euro and been laughed at.

Belgian press reporting the original price was 11 million euro, though that has been increased to 15 million with the interest, Belgian press are also saying 11 million will probably be accepted.

So excited, I could crush a grape Smile

Oh please let it be true. What a signing Praet (pronounced as Prat) would be. He will be well worth the £11 million.

We could play him in the hole behind Lambert or Berahino or as a free roam left winger (a left winger with the freedom to move into a central position and create things. How James Rodriguez played for Colombia at last year's World Cup is a good example of this) so we would have options on how to use him. Last season he played mainly in the hole in a 4-2-3-1 system with 2 fast, direct wingers and 1 tall striker but he was used at times on the left side of midfield in a normal 4-4-2.

Absolutely no chance on Praet, probably the most "un-Pulis-like" player since Gamboa and Sessegnon. We don't really have a spot for central attacking midfielder in the squad either and I expect Sess would be sold if a reasonable offer came in.

Hope people don't get their hopes up too much on this one, he has the potential to be a world class player but it won't be with us.

Where does Berahino fit in with all this?

Praut is a midfielder, so SB fits in his normal position. As for a slot for a midfielder 1996, this kid (if he gets his pre injury form back) is probably better than most of the midfielders we have.

The sad truth is he will probably get snapped up by a European major, if we did get him I doubt it would be for long.

I mean the fact that we play 442, so would be a waste of a squad place if we play him at centre mid and he isn't a natural winger so wouldn't play there either. It's a moot point anyway as Pulis wouldn't be interested and we wouldn't be able to sign him even if he was.
