Looking at the stats on the BBC site the big difference is just putting away the chances. They can have as much possession as they like in their own third but we had more touches in the box and they did a better job of blocking our shots. That’s a function of their proper defensive and expensive players versus our current keystone set due to injuries and not much DR can do about that until Iorfa and Famewo get back from injury.

Burnley have much better players that don’t need to flop yet they do it and get away with it. We do it and it’s waived off !

Even with Iorfa and Famewo, we were still making defensive errors.

Oh for another Nilsson, Pearson, Shirtliff Worthington back line.......

We conceded 68 last season, we have conceded 54 this season with 12 games to go, we will probably end up somewhere in the mid 70s at the rate we concede.

Correct, our position is about right, we are right in there with a bunch of other teams whose strikers are not as good as the top teams and whose defenders are not as good either. To suggest they are stealing a wage is just plain daft, but to expect more from them in terms of quality and skill over 90 mins is daft as well.

We need to take our chances, but without the quality up front like they have we need 3-4 times the number of chances to win games. We see that work well against teams outside the top teams and this is where we win points, our record against the top 4 is now played 6, lost 6, scored none and conceded 16, that tells you all you need to know about the gulf between clubs with parachute payments and those without. Last year Ipswich bucked the trend, this year it’s Sunderland, the rest of us 10-12 teams chasing the final two PO places are way behind them in reality.

The POs are still within our reach but they are also in reach for a bunch of teams, how we fair against those teams will determine our fate. Boro looked good for one of those spots but have now lost 7 in a row, Watford have been poor recently while Brizzle and Coventry are the form teams. Not over yet and looking at our games in April and May we could still go on a run but 10th is pretty much where I expect to finish and having expectations above that seems a long shot currently.

Games of interest tomorrow untill the Rugby at least ....
Derby v Millwall 3pts behind us
Coventry v Boring 2pts Infront and 3pts behind us
Norwich v Stoke 1pt behind us
Pompey v QPR. 3pts behind us

So in total we could drop right back down to 14th although I think we will end the day in joint 11th minus 5 thousand goals that is !

The GD doesn't lie we have a shit defence and a shit strike force simple ...and Danny fluffed up terribly letting the only proper poacher we've got out on loan who would have had at least 8 goals to his rally should he gave stated meaning we would probably be in the playoffs !
To Danny's defense though ugbo was a proper poacher before having the summer off and being pissed around by owners and there silly little games. I swear this is the reason he's just never got up to scratch through missing the pre season !

I'm pretty sure that if any employer were paying me to perform specific tasks of which I repeatedly failed at or repeatedly made the same mistake without learning anything and generally applied a perfunctory attitude, that employer would consider me to be stealing a wage.

It isnt daft at all to expect standards from contracted workers who demand high wages from you.
This logic is continually applied to low level wage workers, who are off down the road when their levels of productivity are deemed inferior.
If players were signed to perform at this level yet are somehow unable to work at this level, they are absolutely stealing a wage. Doh
That might sound unreasonable to some. However, it's the harsh reality for a majority of people in the world..

Our position is about right. I can happily agree we're a mid table mediocre club. That's where I believe we'll finish.
I've no idea why we're even discussing playoffs with this squad, though.
Whilst other teams are struggling to find any real form they do at least have capable squads which are underperforming.
After the Steel city derby all playoff delusions will be put to bed. Possibly sooner.
I think Huddersfield were the only team to be promoted through the playoffs with a negative goal difference?

Wednesday, have a mediocre bunch who are easily found out and exploitable. Players who lack a solid work ethic. That's why it's so easy to get between our defenders. They simply don't want the ball as badly as the opposition forwards You see this time and again.
No other team in this league caves like Wednesday's defence, maybe Plymouth?

We'll be okay overall. There's very little threat of relegation this season. The issue, as always is where are the improvements going to come from? How do we expel the excrement on payroll and how do we make certain that no further incompetent, useless or incapable footballers are signed?

Gassama was booked for simulation. He stupidly simulated and he deserved the yellow for it.
However, I've seen a minimum of six instances of simulation this season. Two instances inside the box (I believe one was a Coventry player last week) and NOT ONE of the offenders were booked by the referees.
Why is it that as soon as Wednesday apply the same dark arts we see other teams apply, it's immediately punished?
I'm sure it's just another one of those coincidences.. Rolleyes

An unexpected loss for Sunderland at home. Hull did the same to the piggies although this was won by a Beadle-esque error by the Sunderland keeper.

Sunderland will be looking to bounce back. Bounce and flop.

Things getting worse for Derby. You love to see it.

Would love to see Fergie's face looking at Manure's position in the table.

There is no comparison to be made between a regular job and playing professional sport.

We played a team yesterday that will be in the PL next season and that has spent a lot of money, and we have our 4th and 5th choice CHs in defence!! Add to that their quality in front of goal, when ours was sadly absent yesterday. If you think that gulf in ability is irrelevant then fine.

Millwall get a late winner and move above us, Derby back down in the bottom three with Hull's win at Sunderland. The Mackems losing touch with the top 3, could they get dragged into the PO position battle as well?
