Sporting Predictions 2025
#61
OK, we're all up and running. I've entered and checked your entries in the spreadsheet, but please check them again and let me know of any errrors. I caught a few copy and paste errors so there might still be one or two to fix.

The RL Super League season starts tonight, though the Challenge Cup is already under way.

Hey, this is Town. We've got donkey's years of under-achievement, don't sweat it.

I've given others a bit of leeway - change your mind today or stick with what you have. That goes for anyone else in the tie-break.

It's a tie breaker and over all these events I'll be surprised if we need it. We've all piled on Liverpool to win the Prima Donna League, but they lost to Plymouth at the weekend.

I'm drawing a line under any other changes beyond the given deadlines after tonight.

Given I did my number when we were still coming down off the crest of a wave and we'd just bought two new strikers, while we've scored the square root of sweet FA in 5 of the past 7 games, I wouldn't get too uptight about it.

Now we're back live.....

Sinner has been banned for 3 months but that doesn't rule him out of the French Open. I doubt he'll be sat on his backside for those 3 months but he'll have about 2 weeks and a bit to blow the rust off.

Sinner by name, sinner by nature.

OK so, things start to get busy round here next week.

First off The Cheltenham Donkey Jumping Festival kicks off on Tuesday with the first race at 13:20 - that's the deadline (or approx then) when they wave a flag or the tapes go up, or however they do it to get it started, for final predictions. If you're really that interested, race cards with declared runners, riders and trainers can be found here - https://www.sportinglife.com/cheltenham-.../racecards or here https://www.racingpost.com/cheltenham-fe...racecards/ but if you still can't decide - here too. https://www.racingpost.com/cheltenham-fe...racecards/

Those partaking of what they believe to be the Liffey Water on Paddys Day, ask for a refund. St. James's Gate Brewery pulls it's water from another river nearby, and it's on Monday 17th anyway.

15-a-side Egg Chasing comes to an (anti?) climax next Saturday with 3 games all kicking off at all sorts of strange times during the day. 14:15, 16:45, 20:00. Uh? How they avoid the match fixing is beyond me but from what I can see, AmChaff needs a miracle but it wouldn't surprise me if Wales suddenly remember how to play again against England. I'm not sure how many bonus points you can get in one game but a win (4 pts) would need them needing at least another 10. Otherwise it's between France, England and Ireland (i.e. the rest of us) to collectively stop Scotland somehow fluking it. (See match fixing above).

On the same day, The Womens's World Chamionship Ice Marbles/Rock Chucking starts in South Korea. I wouldn't doubt there will be a thread on this somewhere on here which I might find easier to follow than the official website. https://worldcurling.org/events/worldwomens/
How do you decide to have a competition with 13 teams in it?
"The LGT World Women’s Curling Championship 2025 is for 13 teams who qualified from the Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships 2024 and the Pan Continental Curling Championships 2024." Obvs, it makes sense to someone, somewhere. 7 from Europe and 6 from the Rest of the World. Someone will sweep themselves to the trophy and maybe a point by the end of the week.
