I'm looking forward to watching you take on Tamworth. My only worry (and it should be yours too) is the pitch. This probably marks me as a dinosaur but you rarely get a decent game to watch on 3G. And some practice on it is no bad thing. Counter-intuitively artifical surfaces don't always favour the home side as much as you'd imagine.
If you'd ever sunk as low as the National League you would know that a rubbish ref' is just part of the data. The ref being rubbish cuts both ways. It is just an honest man teetering on the edge of panic trying to be both right and fair and not making a very good job of it. Honesty is all any of us can demand. When the ref gives a penno and the whole ground knows it was nothing like a foul, sport is about learning to swallow it down, stopping whining and equalising at the other end.
Refs are rubbish, because it is a difficult job carried out in public in front of thousands of critics, by a very fallible human being. Is it bravery, self-regard, or masochism?
