Hibs v Motherwell - Saturday 5 October
#1
The eternal optimist in me thinks that Hibs' recent improved form will continue on Saturday against an impressive Motherwell side. The 'Well have only lost once since mid-August and will be a tough test, especially at set pieces.

Gayle and Hoillett have looked good and, although they probably won't last a full game, 60 or 70 minutes from them should be enough to see off most teams. Despite his dreadful penalty miss against Rangers, I expect SDG to start Kuharevich, on the basis of him being a bit of a handful. All we need is for Kwon to find his shooting boots and I'm sure we can pick up another 3 points.

Well (deliberate, but pathetic pun), I should have known better - dominant in the first half, but no goals to show for it, let Motherwell back into the game and struggled to keep them out and failed. We certainly didn't help ourselves by having Triantis sent off and I must mention a great display by the visiting keeper.

The bottom line is no points in a winnable game. I assume SDG will return to the usual script of explanations. Thank the lord for the international break.

Don't think we played particularly well 1st half but 2nd was dreadful, i really had no idea what we were trying to do in an attacking sense.

2 goals we lost and the red card were absolutely amateur level.

Looking at Gray in particular - Our best players couldn't do the 90 mins, the managers in game decision making is poor as is the mentality in the team. Although we haven't really had a manager who can motivate players since Lennon. These are all things he can work on, and frankly needs to pull together soon.

Still least it was a nice day.

Having seen the Sportscene highlights, I honestly think Lewis Miller is getting worse - losing important possession far too often, slack in closing down opponents.

And jim is right - Gray made 4 attacking substitutions, but none in a creaky defence.

On the way back into town we were treated to fairly large groups of football hooligans battling each other outside the Omni and St Andrews Square.

Not nice and something i thought was happening less and less now.
