Exeter City have signed midfielder Charlie Cummins from Irish side Cobh Ramblers for an undisclosed fee.

The 18-year-old has agreed a two-and-a-half year deal at St James Park.

Cummins joins City after a successful trial that had him feature in a friendly match against Southampton.

"We brought him in a few weeks ago and he was fantastic from day one, a really aggressive player, a bit of a throw back," Exeter City manager Gary Caldwell told BBC Radio Devon.

"He wants to tackle, a really competitive midfielder that I think in the modern game, with academies the way they're going, we're kind of losing that type of player.

"He was only meant to stay for a week, we asked him to stay and play in the Southampton game where he was fantastic, he set up the first goal and showed that competitiveness throughout the game.

"It was an absolute no-brainer to bring him into the club."

Exeter City have signed two strikers in one day by bringing in Mo Eisa on loan from Milton Keynes Dons until the end of the season and then Millenic Alli from Halifax, for an undisclosed fee.

City have paid a loan fee for Eisa, 29, who is out of contract in the summer.

The Sudan international is in MK's top 10 all-time scorers, having scored 31 goals since being signed in 2021.

Alli, 23, has scored seven goals in 21 matches for the Shaymen in the National League this season.

But he will not make his debut for a couple of weeks as he is currently "nursing a slight knock".

Since beginning his career at Bury, the Irishman has featured in non-league football for South Shields, Ashton United, Stockport County and Chorley before joining Halifax in July 2022.

After a prolific spell in non-league, Eisa shone for Cheltenham, earning moves to Bristol City and latterly Peterborough before joining MK Dons.

After scoring on his debut for Sudan in a friendly with Tanzania last October, Eisa also netted in a 1-1 World Cup qualifying draw with Togo in November.

Exeter have managed just 21 goals in 29 League One games this season - and are the EFL's third lowest scorers after Shrewsbury and Cheltenham (20 each).

Exeter City have signed Hull City midfielder Ryan Woods on loan until the end of the season.

The 30-year-old former Birmingham City, Stoke City and Brentford player spent the first half of the season on loan at Bristol Rovers before being recalled.

Woods played 16 times for Rovers, including 12 League One appearances.

"He was somebody we spoke about in the summer, he was someone that wanted to play more football," Exeter boss Gary Caldwell told BBC Radio Devon.

"He comes with great experience, he's a very good football player.

"He's played at a really high level through his career so hopefully that experience, that knowhow, he can bring to the club and bring a standard that can push others."

Exeter City striker Sonny Cox has signed a new deal to stay with the club until the end of the 2025-26 season.

The 19-year-old came through the Grecians' academy and has made 51 appearances for the League One club.

He spent two months on loan with National League South side Yeovil earlier this season and has scored three goals since returning to Exeter in December.

Cox said it was "great" to sign a new deal as Exeter was his "boyhood club".

"I have played here since I was six and it's always been my dream to play for Exeter and to sign a new contract.

"I feel like I've come back from my loan at Yeovil Town and have made an impact so I've just got to keep working hard," he added.

Cox has long been highly rated by Exeter manager Gary Caldwell who has been conscious over his development.

"We are absolutely delighted to get this done as Sonny is someone with massive potential," Caldwell said.

"He has had a huge impact on the the first team as he stepped up when he was needed and scored some important goals for us.

"His performances in that number nine role have been quality and offering the new deal is something that is testament to how he has performed this season," he added.

Homegrown Exeter City defender Alex Hartridge is to leave the club at the end of the season.

The 25-year-old has made 153 appearances for City since his debut in November 2017.

The out-of-favour academy graduate only returned to the side on Monday having not played since late January - he played in all but three of Exeter's League One games last season.

The centre-back's contract is due to expire in the summer.

"He's found himself out of the team, he intimated a long time ago that he'd probably run his contract out," Exeter manager Gary Caldwell told BBC Radio Devon.

"He's been an amazing servant to this football club. A large part of his life has been spent here, and we understand when our academy youngsters want to flee the nest and go and have a career wherever that may take them."

Hartridge was part of the Exeter side that won promotion from League Two in 2022 and played in City's Carabao Cup win over Premier League side Luton Town earlier this season.

He was made captain as he started Exeter's 1-0 win over Stevenage on Saturday.

"We don't want him to leave on the negative of not playing for a number of months," added Caldwell.

"He came in on Monday in one of the biggest games and he was ready, which shows how good a professional he is.

"We felt that it was fitting that he plays a game here at St James Park, probably his last game at St James Park, and to wear the armband was good to show what we think of him as a person and his career at this football club."

Exeter City defender Cheick Diabate has had his contract extended until the end of the 2024-25 season after the club triggered a clause in his current deal.

The 22-year-old made his senior debut in 2021 and has made 74 appearances, with 27 in League One this season.

Diabate joined Exeter as a teenager, after being released by Stevenage.

"I feel like my game has improved as a whole, and I've learnt a lot from the manager and players around me," Diabate said.

Exeter manager Gary Caldwell said Diabate has shown he has a "big future" ahead of him.

"We always want to keep hold of our academy players as long as we can but there will always be a time they look for something new in their career," Caldwell said.

"But at this current moment in time, Cheick is fully committed to the club and we are fully committed to developing him so he can be the best player he can possibly be."

Exeter City forward Yanic Wildschut will stay at the club until the summer of 2025 after triggering an extension in his contract.

The 32-year-old Suriname international joined the club in September 2023 and has made 35 appearances.

He initially joined on a short-term deal in September as a free agent before extending his stay until this summer in January.

The former Norwich City, Middlesbrough and Wigan Athletic winger, who has scored twice for City this season, has played top-flight football in the Netherlands, Bulgaria and Israel during his career.

"I've really enjoyed my time here, especially the second half of this season where we have been doing really well, and I can't wait to continue this next season," he told the club's website.

"My family really enjoy it here and it's a nice place to be. Football is the most important thing but the family like it so that's a plus."

Exeter City forward Jack Aitchison has signed a new two-year contract with the League One club.

The 24-year-old has scored four goals in 41 appearances since joining the club from Motherwell last summer.

His current deal had another year to run but he will now stay with the Grecians until 2026.

Exeter finished the season 13th in the League One table.

"When I joined I didn't really know what I was coming into, such a long way from home, but after the first couple of days it felt quite homely and I have enjoyed it so far," Aitchison told Exeter's website., external

"I've been playing good I think, on and off the ball, but obviously hitting those numbers and targets the gaffer and I have set myself, I'm a little disappointed not to have hit them, but to have played nearly every game has been brilliant."

Aitchison began his career at Celtic in his native Scotland and spent time on loan at Dumbarton, Alloa Athletic and Forest Green Rovers before moving permanently to Barnsley in 2020.

A loan at Stevenage was followed by a further temporary spell at Forest Green, before he moved back north of the border to Motherwell on a six-month deal in January 2023.

He joined Exeter as a free agent that summer.

Exeter City's Finland midfielder Ilmari Niskanen has extended his contract at the League One club.

The 26-year-old has signed a new deal to keep him at St James Park until the summer of 2026.

Niskanen played 35 times for Exeter last season after joining from Scottish side Dundee United on a two-year deal.

He was part of the Finland squad that was knocked out by Wales in the European Championships play-offs.

Exeter City midfielder Caleb Watts has signed a new deal to keep him at St James Park until January 2025.

The 22-year-old joined the League One side on an initial short-term deal last September and extended it until the end of the season in January.

He scored on his debut against Cheltenham Town in September and went on to play 11 times for City.

Watts joined the Grecians from Southampton on a free transfer, having featured for Australia at the last Olympic Games.

"Caleb is someone who would say he had a disappointing season last year, and he was hugely unlucky with injuries," Exeter boss Gary Caldwell told the club website., external
