Dan Butler has become the third player this summer to join Stevenage from Peterborough United.

The 28-year-old left-back has followed Nathan Thompson and Ben Thompson, who also recently moved from Posh to the Lamex Stadium.

He had a year remaining on his contract at London Road. The length of his deal at Stevenage has not been disclosed.

"I'm excited to be here. There's a lot of good momentum at this club after getting promoted last season," he said.

"The stadium looks good, the training ground is amazing, so it was an easy decision."

Butler joined Peterborough from Newport County in 2019.

His career has also included spells at Portsmouth and Torquay United.

Stevenage have signed former Crystal Palace defender Reece Hannam.

The 22-year-old will move to the Lamex Stadium after a successful trial, subject to EFL and FA approval.

Stevenage boss Steve Evans has been given a two-match "extended touchline ban" after "failing to comply with the terms" of a previous touchline ban.

The 61-year-old Scot, who was sat in the stand, admitted breaching the terms of his touchline ban during his side's 3-1 defeat at his old club Peterborough United on 13 March.

The independent regulatory commission hearing also fined him £1,250.

The original ban was as a result of yellow cards received by Evans.

Evans must still serve the original Football Association ban, as per their compliance terms. He will serve the extended ban first and then the original ban will follow.

Evans should now spend both bank holiday weekend fixtures sat in the stand, starting with the Good Friday League One game with fellow promotion hopefuls Bolton Wanderers, followed by the Easter Monday trip to Charlton Athletic.

Stevenage go into the Easter games in seventh, just a point behind sixth-placed Oxford United.

Yellow and red cards for managers were introduced in English football for the 2018-19 season
