Matty Daly played twice in the Premier League while at Huddersfield
Harrogate Town have signed midfielder Matty Daly on a two-year contract following his season-long loan with the League Two club in 2022-23.

The 22-year-old started 20 league games last term after joining from Huddersfield Town, scoring seven goals in the league and eight from 39 appearances in all competitions.

Daly told the club website: "I really enjoyed my football here.

"There was a real togetherness and that made it a great dressing room."

Head of player recruitment Lloyd Kerry added; "We knew a few weeks ago that he would be available and we moved pretty quickly.

"We know all about Matty and the quality which he has. He scored some vital goals for us and at the age of 22 we believe he can become a big asset for this club."

Harrogate Town have signed left-back Matty Foulds from Bradford City for an undisclosed fee as well as Crewe Alexandra's Rod McDonald.

Foulds, 25, spent the latter half of the 2022-23 season on loan at Harrogate and joins on a two-year deal.

Meanwhile, McDonald, 31, also links up with Harrogate on a two-year deal after making 36 appearances for Crewe.

"Speaking to the gaffer I quickly realised that his aspirations are very similar to what I want," Foulds said.

"I came in for the second half of last season and absolutely loved it so it was a no-brainer for me to come here."

McDonald had been offered a new deal by the Alex but opted to make the move to Harrogate.

Assistant boss Paul Thirlwell added: "Rod is very dominant, very aggressive and he can play as well, so he's a player we feel will fit in really well to the squad."

The 21-year-old was released by Burnley at the end of last season.

He came through the Premier League side's academy but never made an appearance for the first team.

Harrogate Town have signed forward Abraham Odoh from Rochdale on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old scored four goals in 91 games for Dale, who triggered a new deal this summer following their relegation to the National League.

London-born Odoh joined Charlton - where he made one senior appearance - after a spell in non-league football, before moving to Dale in February 2021.

"Abraham is an exciting player to bring to the club," boss Simon Weaver said.

"We wanted to bring in a player with pace and someone who possesses that bit of skill to beat opponents. When we heard he was available we moved very quickly to secure his services."

Odoh added: "I have played against the side a couple of times and I know how tight knit the squad is.

"I also enjoyed my experiences whenever I have played in Harrogate so I felt joining the club would be a good fit for me and I can't wait to meet the supporters."

Harrogate Town have signed Middlesbrough forward Jeremy Sivi until January, as Stevenage's Josh March returns on a permanent deal.

Sivi, 21, has only made one first-team appearance for Boro, in an EFL Cup tie at Blackpool, since joining the Championship club in 2021.

March, 26, has agreed undisclosed terms to re-sign with the Sulphurites.

The former Forest Green Rovers player scored five goals in 13 games in 2020-21 before joining Stevenage.

He scored one goal in five league and cup games for the Boro this season before his departure to North Yorkshire.

"He plays the game with lots of energy but also knows where the back of the net is," boss Simon Weaver said.

"In his last spell with the club he scored freely and anytime he crossed that line you knew he was going to be a threat going forward."

Meanwhile, Sivi began his career at Leyton Orient but left without making an English Football League appearance at senior level, before joining Harlow Town.

He has been a regular at under-21 level with nine goals in 31 games.

Weaver added: "He's a tall, wide forward who is blessed with pace and trickery and can score goals, so we're really excited about bringing him in.

The Sulphurites are 17th in the fourth tier, with two wins and four goals from five games.

Goalkeeper Jonathan Mitchell has extended his contract with Harrogate Town until the end of the season.

The 29-year-old was signed in November because of the absence of Mark Oxley, but has been limited to six appearances since sustaining a knee injury.

Mitchell, who began his career at Newcastle, has played for Northampton, Derby and Doncaster among other clubs.

Manager Simon Weaver praised Mitchell's "attitude and application" since joining the Sulphurites.

"He was under a lot of pressure on a short-term contract," Weaver told the club website. "But he showed his mettle and I think that is something which deserves rewarding."

On Thursday, Harrogate re-signed goalkeeper James Belshaw for an undisclosed fee from Bristol Rovers.

Harrogate Town have re-signed goalkeeper James Belshaw for an undisclosed fee from Bristol Rovers.

The 33-year-old has spent the past three weeks back with Town on a series of emergency loans.

He previously spent four seasons with the club, between 2017 and 2021, and was part of the team that won promotion to the EFL in 2020.

"He has returned a better player than he was in his first spell," boss Simon Weaver told the club website.

Belshaw has signed an 18-month deal with Harrogate, who are 12th in League Two.
