Humza Yousaf is the new First Minister of Scotland! A new era begins!
#1
And so it comes to pass that Humza Yousaf becomes the first ethnic leader of Scotland after over 25 years as a member of the SNP and 12 years in the Scot Parliament - decided after 52k (70%) members of the party decided to vote - a proud man indeed! However, he won on a split vote (52% v 48%) and many members, plus 1000s of Scot indy supporters, now watching and waiting to see what happens next and what direction he wants to take in progressively governing the country in a positive direction on a "continuity ticket" as well as taking heed of the raison d'etre of the SNP - to achieve Scottish independence. Intriguing times ahead as many Unionists now believing political opps potentially opening up while still backing Brexit and telling the Scottish people we are second class citizens who are not allowed to decide on our own future as an indy nation at any time on any day chosen as our sovereign right - delusional as usual, and with no substance or opinion poll to back up that opinion and with no leaders of any credibility whatsoever. And that includes the Labour "wooden top" leader named, Sir Keir Starmer - clueless re what is actually happening in Scotland!! Of course, he doesn't actually live in this country and that explains why!!

0762, are you happy with the choice?

I don't think there was an ideal choice amongst the three of them TBH SCO. Humza has been democratically elected by SNP members, but in reality it looks like Ash Regan's participation has fragmented the vote for Kate Forbes to win this election outright. Regan's facial expression, immediately after the formal announcement, conveyed that realisation re scuppering KF's hopes. Note public opinion gave Forbes "the nod" by about 10-12 pc pts. However, I reckon Forbes was relieved to miss out anyway - based on her reaction after the formal result! She was very happy to see Humza in place! His election effectively keeps the Green Party "on board" with the Scot govt. So no political stooshie, the SNP hierarchy get their preferred candidate, a case of continue regardless with a revised Cabinet. However, there will be divided opinion (many people want root n branch change, others not!) re his political capabilities and how he progresses from here - a case of give him a chance, wait n see. He has scope just now to "kick the can down the road" re Scottish independence, but he has to embrace all the indy factions and procrastination will only be tolerated for a finite period. We'll also find out soon enough if he is another "talker" or hopefully a man of action. Whether he is a true leader in such a prestigious position is another matter! Only time will tell.

In all honesty, he is a massive liability.

I can only add that the SNP hierarchy "got their man", but only just with clear warnings from a big chunk of the SNP membership re the way forward for the party - significant change!! And Kate Forbes leaves the Scottish govt! Am I surprised? Not really TBF!!

Read it, digest the implications, and prepare for the moment when Unionist bastards like Frost do indeed try to shut down our democratically elected Scottish govt and the people's parliament. Remember, the Scottish people are sovereign and not parliament - unlike Westminster where parliament is sovereign. Over 75% of Scots voted for a devolved Scot Parliament in 1997 and still consistently support said parliament. There could well be a time coming where we may need to fight for that democratic right to keep it and this could provide an "open door" to Scottish independence. Note asking an English govt nicely to allow our transition to self-determination was never gonna be successful and that's a fact!

So, the Stone of Destiny heads south to be used in Westminster Abbey in the upcoming coronation full of pomp, splendour and obscene affluence amid divided opinion in Scotland whether this should ever have been allowed to happen and whether King Charles should've dismissed using the stone any more, bearing in mind the negative historical symbolism attached to the idea that English kings/queens sit their arses on a revered relic of ancient Scottish kings and queens and Scottish sovereignty itself, stolen from Scotland and indeed only returned to Bella Caledonia in 1996 - better late than never eh!!

Thing is, plenty of Scottish monarchs have sat there when they took the throne of England, and their offspring continue to do so. Even the last queen was a descendent of the stewarts as was her mother.

Anyway we all know its not the real stone Wink

Yep! It's a granite stane. Whereas the real stane was reckoned to be a discovered meteor (originally from Ireland?) of unusual colour, revered as having divine characteristics about it Jim. Monks removed the authentic stane from Scone Palace well before the marauding Edward I got his hands on it and was convinced he had the original stane. Note it's not illogical (it is common sense!) to assume that senior Scottish clan chiefs and cohorts had enough time in 1296 to arrange a planned rescue of the stane from its place of honour and replace it with a copy stane long before Longshanks ever arrived on the scene to be "none the wiser". Also it's well known that at least 4 x replica granite stanes have been made since then - certainly professed/bragged about by one stonemason, a guy named Bertie Grey, who actually repaired the stone and joined it with a tube holding a message inside it - the message under Charlie's bum reads: MARCH 1951,THIS STONE BELONGS TO SCOTLAND. IT WAS STOLEN BY EDWARD I OF ENGLAND IN 1296. THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND SHOULD BE ASHAMED TO ADMIT THEY ALLOWED THIS PIECE OF STOLEN PROPERTY TO REMAIN IN WESTMINSTER ABBEY FROM THAT TIME. IT MUST BE RETURNED TO SCOTLAND FOR THE REOPENING OF THE SCOTTISH PARLIAMENT WHICH WAS NEVER CLOSED IN 1707 verified in Tom Steel's "Scotland's Story" published after his tv documentary of that name. So was the copied Stone of Destiny, stolen by Ian Hamilton and his other fellow Scottish patriots in 1950, replaced with another replica? The story is so intriguing and typically Scottish in the way it has fitted so well into Scottish folklore and the last laugh being on the Royal English aggressor and the English establishment people who ever surround the monarchy like bees in a hive while we've just recently discovered from OP data that over 75% of the Scottish population is totally indifferent towards the monarchy and the upcoming coronation of King Charles III. Oh aye, and remember to "swear your allegiance" to the king on the day eh!!!! Laugh NOT!!!!! ISN'T THIS BRAINWASHING CRAP ALSO PRACTISED IN N KOREA??????? Like millions n millions of people in this country, I am a citizen of this country who will never be a subject of any entitled, obscenely wealthy prat with some kinda revered Royal bloodline!! The words bizarre, anachronistic and backward come to mind esp in this day and age - what a crazy country south of the border when it comes to this kinda brainwashing shit!! Or is it just their totally out of control toxic RW "rags" and media at fault?? I don't think so!

So not "comparing apples with apples and pears with pears" and indeed the complicit Unionist RW media/press crossing our border and never wanna mention the superior Scottish A&E times. Anybody surprised????? No!!! It doesn't tie in with their continuous negative shit against the SNP and SNP govt!! The political collusion/conspiracy is so blatant and jaw dropping! Thumb down They must think we're all dafties up here in Scotland.

In evidence to a House of Lords committee (on 19th January 2023), the prevailing practice of measuring 12-hour waits from the time of a ‘decision to admit’ (DTA) rather than from ‘time of arrival’ (TOA – as in Scotland) was described by Dr Adrian Boyle, President of the RCEM as ‘a fundamentally dishonest way of reporting data. It is hiding and doing our patients a disservice by minimising a very serious problem’.”

“NHS England has relented and published the first set of monthly data (for February 2023) on 12-hour waits measured from time of arrival at A&E to admission, transfer or discharge.”

Another anomaly to watch out for is how NHS emergency waiting times get collated and reported by NHS England and then re-reported by UK media. A&E depts in Scotland are sometimes compared with English figures that include minor injury units, where wait times tend to be shorter.

A one-sided view that the NHS is failing

The figures on A&E waiting times are not good enough and there is a great deal of room for improvement. But creating a one-sided narrative that Scotland’s NHS is failing doesn’t help anyone – except those who may seek to benefit from privatisation.

Scotland’s NHS is actually performing quite a lot better than its neighbour. Two-thirds of people are seen at an A&E department here within four hours of arrival. That is closer to half for people living down south.

Scotland also has more doctors and nurses per 100,000 people and a more generous training system, with bursaries and free tuition. Nurses in Scotland now earn about £2,500 more on average than in England.

Scotland’s NHS is performing better than south of the border and that's a fact!
