You would need a heart of stone not to laugh. Laugh

Well said! Ditto!! It's the fact we are so powerless to really do anything about it other than write letters of opposition and, in different ways, continue to express huge criticism of something that should never have been allowed to happen.

I must add the underlying reason why there is growing regret in the UK over Brexit is that the promise of reduced immigration was a lie, the saving of £20B of EU fees was a lie, the prospect of cheaper food and manufactured goods was a lie, the continued access to the EU single market was a lie, and the unilateral capability of UK sovereignty was a lie. The "dark money" that financed Brexit has not led to a smaller EU being unable/unwilling to support its neighbours from invasion, and has not led to the UK becoming an unmanaged and unregulated free-market economy. Brexit has proven to be "unfit for purpose" generally. Whilst there is growing regret across the UK and beyond over Brexit, there is a more focused anger up here in Scotland. IMO that will continue to fester and grow to eventually come to its own natural conclusion.

It's literally done nothing in terms of what it was meant to achieve, and those that voted for it are still none the wiser how it has made their lives better.

You can't just rip that amount out of a nations GDP and expect everything to be hunky dory afterwards. You have to ask were there any Brexitiers who cared about any kind of business at all? They have shafted professional services, banking, manufacturing and agriculture to name just a few. Certainly food production is dead on arrival with the post brexit government scheme.

As far as you and me are concerned, not a cat in hell's chance of us being better off or taken any care of.

Otherwise yes - the one's that were already and those that became billionaires through Government incompetence during Covid and Brexit. Covid helped the acceleration of Government (i.e. the tax-payers) funds into their pockets where they quickly and quietly stashed the cash in off-shore bank accounts and hence pay no UK tax on it. They'd have got there anyway by the end of this Government's term. Thus taking more and more money out of our economy which the BoE then has to replace, thus devaluing the £ which drives up inflation on imported goods, particularly energy related goods, that are mostly paid for in US$'s. The £ is still worth less on nearly all FX markets, especially those that matter, than it was up to and on the day of the vote. It fell through the floor the following morning when the result came in.

To put this into context, the UK in 2022 had 177 billionaires and they owned £653 billion. (Times Rich List/Sky News).

The UK GDP is about US$ 3.2 trillion or just under £3 trillion. So in round numbers 177 people own the equivalent of 20% of the UK GDP. Of course, not a single one of them would ever dream of trying to influence the UK Government in any shape or form, especially if they ever had to pay tax at source. Whistle

It's definitely taken a lotta time for the clock to run down on Brexit, but thank god more n more people across the political spectrum starting to realise what a con, a lotta lying crap, the presentation of Brexit has actually been and the poor offerings it has given to the country.

This is another joke and a ridiculous consequence of too many people in England being conned about Brexit and stupidly voting for it. Remember that reassuring message all these years ago - "it will be all too easy" or "over-ready" uttered by a political liar and cad who is no longer active in politics, but still trying to flog a book that will bring in some more dosh to sustain his immoral and corrupt lifestyle.

Apart from it being a dead cat, who the feck is seriously gong to reintroduce imperial measures if we actually want to export anything anywhere (apart from the closed door that is the USA)? All the moulds, dies, drawings and kit required to make the archaic packaging in any quantity were pretty much scrapped years ago. Places like The Black Country or Ironbridge Museums could probably knock out a couple of dozen a week at a push. Think they might want a bit more than a few old pennies per dozen though.

Also bear in mind, none of these "laws" were imposed on us. We voted for them through our MEP's and then passed them through parliament pretty much on the nod. Why, because we'd told our MEP's we agreed with them. If we didn't like them, we could have voted against them at the time and they would have been stopped, rewritten until we did or totally scrapped by the EU.

Now if we could only recall which Party was in charge (of partying mostly) for most of the time when we were doing all this???
