I think nobody should give up hope on this issue TBH! I know we are battling against multi-national corporations like Exxon and others who definitely influence govts and bribe them to "do their bidding", but there has been more exposure of corrupt practise like this and that needs to continue together with civil protests etc. Our extreme weather patterns are clearly becoming the normal and getting worse. People, qualified scientists, reputable institutions, pragmatic politicians, media etc (not just in this country btw) need to keep applying the requisite pressure to demand change "across the board" in order to seriously take on the global warming threat. Giving up or "burying one's head in the sand" is not an option IMO!!

I'm not hopeful because to make the kind of inroads necessary, it means taking on capitalism, the markets and energy companies and saying they can't have everything they want. And thats never going to happen.

Europes climate is rising at twice the rate of the global average. Sunaks sending a message out that we are not serious about solving the inhabitability of the planet while at the same time being absolutely serious about preventing substantial immigration of any kind. That just isn't going to jive.

What they are doing to what is very often CHILDREN in that migrant centre is beyond disgusting. But it's literally the only way these clowns can cling to power now, with cruelty and an us against them mentality.

It's a pretty desperate government that bases its immigration policy on cruelty and hopes word will get back to stop them coming here in the first place, especially when we've got more jobs available (supposedly) than people to fill them.

Its policy isn't designed to stop them coming, it's designed to keep angry gammons across tory seats happy.

The tories are left with the Brexit voting, benefit claiming/Migrant lynch mob to cling to power.....and Farage is capable of taking that all away from them with one whiff of his yellow teethed, mosley tribute act bullshit.

As renton from trainspotting said "its a shite state of affairs".

The scary thing for you guys in the UK is that you are stuck with this bunch until January 2025 unless they call an early election, which they won’t!!

Still, who am I to talk, we might get Trump back in 2024!!

It exposes a global issue that has gradually "reared its ugly head" for years. These morons are "cropping up" all over the place TBF and it is hugely concerning. The Brazilian election that just took out Bolsonaro was a very slight "ray of hope", but the reputation of the winner left a lot to be desired and the huge number of Brazilian voters still backing a "nut job" like Bolsonaro is frightening. The same applies to the United States re people who clearly favour values and rhetoric/lies that are "fit for the gutter"!!!

This is what should really be happening in this country and no surprise there are demonstrations re the lack of recognition of the people's vote for a new govt and a new direction. No vote for the elites please - done that and it is "taking the piss" out of a proper democratic process!!!

The dial is now being pushed so far to the right, via brexit, that i am genuinely afraid the country may end up in a 30s style fascist shithole unless the electorate wake up fast.

America at least seen the error of that route...for now anyway.
