Going by the press this morning it seems that Brexit was meant to provide a border to stop furriners coming in to the country but absolutely not designed to stop Bill from Chester taking his caravan to France for the summer.

xxxx give me strength. Laugh

It seems that the travel chaos everywhere is caused in the main by staff shortages, Now is it the French taking the P or are the (presumably) Dutch and Belgian passport officials at Newcastle and Hull doing the same? It's far more likely that the arrogant Brits supposedly in charge have no concept of forward planning.

Ritchie,

It just takes longer now. We went over to Denmark recently by car and your passport needs stamped, and we were asked questions about where we were staying, finances etc. In the past you just got waved through.

At Dover it's much more problematic because of the sheer volume of traffic. There has always been french inspectors that side because of the channel tunnel etc....The actual port of Dover needs huge investment or this is going to be the new norm. Especially when the new EES system comes in.

Pre-Brexit, it was all seamless travel!! Now the hassle factor, the issue that that many independent political analysts warned us about, has "kicked in".

I take your points, but were the Danish officials in the UK or Denmark? Is it just the French who have a presence here?

I must add I don't blame any Euro officials (French, Belgian etc) for making it difficult for travellers on this side of the Channel after all the antagonistic behaviour coming out of this fascist Brexit govt for years - it has been never ending, a disgrace, they deserve it AND MORE!!! It's the folk who never voted for this shit (Tory Brexit agenda for the past 30-40 years) who I feel sorry for.

We went via the netherlands Ritchie, then its a few hours drive north.

Your passport requires a wet stamp now. The border guards were not happy about it. Normally a maroon passport just got you waved through.

I'm sure I'll get the answer eventually, jim. Whistle Were the Dutch Passport Officials who stamped your passport in the UK or The Netherlands? Thanks.

I most certainly would blame/criticise any official of any country who made life difficult for travellers who are keen to visit foreign countries and spend some of their savings there.
