Swindon Town defender Mathieu Baudry has signed a new one-year contract.

The 34-year-old Frenchman played 17 times last season as the Robins reached the League Two play-off semi-finals.

Baudry was out of contract this summer, three years after first moving to the County Ground from Milton Keynes Dons.

His new deal is the first announced since former assistant manager Scott Lindsey was promoted to head coach at the club after predecessor Ben Garner's move to Charlton Athletic.

"Scott stepping up as head coach made my decision a lot easier," Baudry told the club website.

"I've loved working with him during my time here and many won't realise just how much of an important role he played in us reaching the play-offs last season.

"Having that continuity with Scott in charge is vital. I'm really excited to go again and want to do things right, and hope I can help take this club back to where it belongs."

He spent last season on loan at Walsall and played 39 times in League Two, scoring twice.

"It's a great feeling to sign for Swindon Town," Shade told the club website.

"There's a really good feel around this club and I can't wait to get started.

"Having played against the club last season, I was really impressed by their fast attacking football and I really want to be a part of that."

Wayne Rooney has told troubled Derby County that he wishes to be "relieved of his duties as first-team manager" with immediate effect.

The 36-year-old's contract with the club had another year to run.

The Rams have been in administration since September last year and were relegated to League One last season.

"I feel the club now needs to be led by someone with fresh energy and not affected by events that have happened over the last 18 months," he said.

Swindon Town have signed Sheffield Wednesday defender Ciaran Brennan on a season-long loan.

The 22-year-old played 14 matches for the Owls last season as well as four while on loan at Notts County.

The Irishman signed a two-year contract extension at Sheffield Wednesday in January.

"The philosophy and playing style Scott Lindsey wants to implement here was massive in my decision," he told Swindon's website.

"I also want to prove to people what I'm capable of. I want regular first team football and to show what I can do. Swindon Town provides me with the ideal opportunity to achieve this.

"League Two is tough and physical but I feel ready, and playing lower league football has taught me a lot. I want to dominate possession, get the ball down, press forward and most importantly, keep clean sheets."

The Robins have been busy in the transfer window, signing Tyrese Shade, Sol Brynn, Joe Wollacott, Reece Devine, and Cian Harries in June.

The Witshire club finished last season sixth in League Two, losing to Port Vale in the play-off semi-finals.

Swindon Town have signed former Leicester City striker Jacob Wakeling on a undisclosed-length contract.

The 20-year-old began his career in West Bromwich Albion's academy and joined Leicester in 2020.

The centre-forward signed on loan for League Two Barrow in January and featured four times before the end of the season.

Wakeling was released by the Foxes this summer, having not made a first-team appearance for them.

"After speaking to the manager I knew this was the club for me. The way he wants his side to play really suits me with an attacking focus. I'm hungry and cannot wait to show the fans what I can do," Wakeling said.

He played regularly in midfield for Liverpool's under-23 squad, where he was also made captain.

Last June, Clayton made his debut for Scotland Under-21s and has since been capped five times.

"I'm so pleased to join Swindon," Clayton told the club website.

"Having spoken to a number of people about the club before signing I knew this was the place I wanted to play my football and take the next step in my career, so it wasn't a hard decision at all."
