Stevenage have signed defender Carl Piergianni, goalkeeper Aaron Chapman and midfielder Michael Bostwick.

Piergianni, 28, moves from Oldham Athletic after making 48 appearances in 2021-22, scoring four goals.

Chapman, 31, spent the season with Gillingham and played 25 games for the League One club.

Bostwick, 34, joined Stevenage on loan from Burton Albion in January and has now agreed a permanent deal at the Lamex Stadium.

They are the first signings made by boss Steve Evans following the release of 15 players after Stevenage finished 21st in League Two this season.

All three were out of contract with their former clubs, but details of their deals with Boro have not been disclosed.

"I will always give 100% commitment, that willingness to die for the shirt and I hope to spur my team-mates on to fight to win every game," said Piergianni.

"I have signed for the manager three times now because he creates atmospheres and squads that I want to be a part of," Chapman added.

Stevenage have signed forward Danny Rose following his release by League Two rivals Northampton Town.

The 28-year-old made 43 appearances for the Cobblers in 2021-22, the last two in their play-off semi-final defeat by former club Mansfield Town.

Rose played for the Stags under Stevenage boss Steve Evans before joining Northampton in 2020.

"I know what he's about and I played the best football of my career under him," Rose told the Stevenage website.

"As soon as the season finished, the move was something I wanted to make happen and now I can't wait to get started".

Stevenage have signed Aberdeen midfielder Dean Campbell on loan for the 2022-23 season.

The 21-year-old last season helped Kilmarnock to promotion to the Scottish Premiership during a loan spell at Rugby Park.

Campbell, capped by Scotland at various age-group levels, has featured 75 times for Aberdeen since his debut in 2016.

Dons manager Jim Goodwin said "regular first-team football" at Stevenage would be "invaluable" to Campbell.

Stevenage have signed left-back Max Clark after he opted not to take up the offer of a new contract with Rochdale.

The 26-year-old joined Dale from Fleetwood in January on a deal to the end of the season and made 23 appearances for the club, scoring once.

An ex-England Under-18s international, he has also played for Cambridge United, Hull City and Vitesse Arnhem.

"I want to achieve things here and be up there fighting for promotion," Clark told the League Two club's website.

"I have been talking to the manager for a couple of weeks now, and they have always been positive conversations."

He is the sixth signing made by boss Steve Evans since the end of the 2021-22 campaign, following Carl Piergianni, Michael Bostwick, Aaron Chapman, Danny Rose and Dean Campbell.

The length of Clark's contract with Boro has not been disclosed.

Stevenage have signed former Motherwell winger Jordan Roberts.

He joined the Well from Hearts in January on a deal until the end of the season and previously played under Boro boss Steve Evans at Gillingham.

Roberts, 28, is the seventh signing Boro have made since the end of the 2021-22 season, after Carl Piergianni, Michael Bostwick, Aaron Chapman, Danny Rose, Dean Campbell and Max Clark.

"I'm looking forward to working with the manager again," Roberts said.

"I find that he gets the best out of me and gives me the freedom and opportunity to express myself - as a player, that's all you want."

Roberts played one game for Hearts and 20 for Motherwell last season, scoring twice.

The length of his contract with Stevenage has not been disclosed by the League Two club.

Dan Sweeney made 57 league appearances in two seasons with Forest Green
Stevenage have signed Forest Green Rovers defender Dan Sweeney.

The 28-year-old helped Rovers win the League Two title last season but has decided to move on after discussions over a new contract.

He is the club's eighth summer signing after they finished 21st in the fourth tier in 2021-22.

"The manager has said what he wants to achieve at this club, and I want to be a part of that," he told the club website.

Stevenage have not disclosed the length of Sweeney's contract.

Stevenage have signed Fulham goalkeeper Taye Ashby-Hammond on loan and defender Kane Smith from Boreham Wood.

Ashby-Hammond, 23, spent last season on loan at Boreham Wood and joins League Two Stevenage on a season-long loan.

Smith, 26, can play on the right-side of defence or midfield and made more than 160 appearances for fellow Hertfordshire side The Wood.

"Speaking to the manager was a massive pull for me. He's hugely experienced at this level," Smith said.

Stevenage have made their 11th signing of the summer after agreeing a season-long loan for teenage Norwich City defender Saxon Earley.

Left-back Earley, 19, captained the Canaries' under-18 and under-23 teams and will get his first taste of senior football at the Lamex Stadium.

"There wasn't a doubt in my mind as soon as I knew that Stevenage were interested," Earley said.

"I want to have a positive impact and see where we can go this season."

League Two Stevenage have signed midfielder Alex Gilbey on loan from Charlton Athletic until the end of the season.

The 27-year-old has made more than 300 appearances in the English Football League.

Gilbey began his career with Colchester United, making his debut in 2012 and has also played for Wigan Athletic and MK Dons.

He joined Charlton in August 2020 and has made 66 appearances for the club.

"I had a few offers from the league above, but as soon as I spoke to the manager and had a look around the training facilities, it was a no brainer for me," Gilbey said.

"I've signed for Stevenage because I want to get promoted. With the way the manager speaks and what his plans are, he wants the same thing.

"For me, the main things are to score as many goals as possible and help the club reach its objective."

League Two title contenders Stevenage have signed midfielder Jake Forster-Caskey on a permanent deal from Charlton Athletic.

The 28-year-old came through the academy at Brighton and made more than 100 appearances for the Addicks after joining in January 2017.

He has also had loan spells with Oxford United, Rotherham and MK Dons.

Forster-Caskey is a former England Under-21 international and is Stevenage's first January signing.

He arrives with Stevenage second in the League Two table, only two points behind leaders Leyton Orient and with a 12-point cushion to the play-off places.
