I thought there was a Trademark that this can only happen to Andy Murray?? I also believe the opposite Trademark belongs to Colin Hendry that states you guys can say he is English anytime an opposition player flicks the ball over his head!!

I don't remember that one at all and I've been a Tartan Army member right back to the days of Law and Baxter. Must have missed the few Scots who pulled that line - they prob came from Corby lol - some extreme TA fanatics down there and they all have English accents.

What an interesting development from the STUC Gen Sec, Roz Foyer, challenging the Labour Party to "take a look at itself" over its stance opposing another Scotindy referendum and insisting there is a "policy difference" between the Labour Party and the wider Labour movement re a future referendum. Her view - rejecting it "out of hand" is unviable! Also the fact of the matter is that thousands n thousands of Union members support the democratic right of Scotland holding a future referendum and these people have ditched the Scot Labour Party a long time ago and deemed the party and insipid leader after leader after leader, right up to the present Sarwar, as useless. It's also interesting that the STUC has invited Nicola Sturgeon to their conference as well as the Scot Labour leader - how times have changed from the bad old days of the STUC-Scot Labour pact!!

We've come to the end of a week when many Scots, and indeed Brit citizens, prob didn't notice a momentous change in democracy in this country. The Electoral Commission has been taken over by the Brit govt and handed to Michael Gove to have full authority over its operation. Note the EC was the "independent" body responsible for the integrity of elections and referenda incl spending and the legitimacy of results. Gove will decide if the rules have been broken and what penalties, if any, ought to be imposed. From now on, the EC will have to respect "the priorities of the Brit govt in matters of elections and referenda"!!!!!!! Note the reference to "referenda". Also note the fitting words of Joseph Stalin who said all these years ago, "It's not who votes that counts. It's who counts the votes" - how helpful a quote that is!! DEMOCRACY IN THE UK IS NOW OFFICIALLY DEAD!!! Thumb down The biggest eyeopener in Scotland was the fact that this outrageous violence against the constitution didn't even make headline news on the likes of BBC Scotland News - not a bit of it and still obsessed over ferries and ferry construction contracts!!! Sadly, for them, their pandering aint working as it looks like these Tory scum bags intend to abolish the licence fee at some point. It's a shame, as many BBC offerings are laudable, but they have allowed the brand to be incurably damaged by the antics of BBC Scottish News. So while democracy was dying, what were Tory MPs doing?? Not much apart from one moron watching porn on his mobile phone in the HoS debating chamber. One wonders where the next constitutional assault will come from these paranoid unionist conspirators eh??? Will it be in the form of Lord Foulkes proposed new parliamentary bill that will try to stop any attempt by a Scot govt to have an indy referendum??? And stipulating sovereignty and absolute power to the Brit govt. I wonder how my fellow Scots on this board view such a development to violate our sovereign rights as citizens of a sovereign country called Scotland??? You must be alarmed by this development as much as I am!!? This is surely just plain wrong, absolutely outrageous!!! Do we move our fight to an international court or take it directly to the United Nations. OR as we were forced into this sham of a union by a majority vote in the Scot Parliament, can we vote to dissolve this union altogether? My last point is, "It will only be a barrier if the SNP let it become one"!! Rolleyes

A seismic shift in the future of this fractured Union and that is very evident in NI esp with Sinn Fein and their leader finally coming to the fore after a treacherous Brexit imposed against the wishes of the population. Also great news from a Scottish perspective as a resounding Scot local election (up by 2 pts from 2017, but good enough!!) result for the SNP was always expected with Scot Labour's leader, Sarwar in a delusion at a poor 2nd best, remarking that this was the start of something big and yet the results don't show Scot Labour denting the SNP's dominance at all as he is clearly picking up votes from middle class areas and from Tory voters who are disenfranchised from their political party - still never reconnected with working class voters at all!! This result just tells Nicola, "We are still here, waiting for the starting gun to fire, finally go for full self-determination, and GTF out of this failed Union of unequal partners with a fascist political bully in another country persistently interfering in our affairs and telling us where to go". Aye, it'll be a big challenge, but we know where to go and resurrect our country in a proper, fair and thoughtful way - THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT WITHOUT THEM!!

The BBC presenter basically said it out loud - this wasn't meant to happen and the state was deliberately created so this couldn't happen.

A gerrymandered sectarian state hugely set up to subjugate and discriminate against the roman catholic community there has now been overtaken by time.

Of course the dinosaur loyalists that scream about democracy don't want anything to do with it. But they now know beyond doubt that the english establishment uses and abuses them for their ends and yet they still cling limpet like to them instead of embracing a new future.

Maybe the youngsters will sweep these clowns into the dustbin of history where they belong, You can but hope. I still reckon a united ireland will lead to loads of the loyalist community heading here, where their anti-catholicism is given tacit approval by civic scotland and make our own independence less likely.

Re that last para, I sincerely hope that doesn't happen and the independence movement "sucks in" the middle ground of Scottish voters who regard themselves to be Scottish and part of a sovereign country called Scotland, BUT these people have been "sitting on the fence" looking for assurances that Scotland can "go it alone" and do it far better than a lotta people seem to think. Also we can attain self-determination before a United Ireland ever materialises. Re the NI position, any fool can see that since the damning Brexit vote of 2016 there was a stark difference between English Nationalist Unionism and NI Unionism with different objectives so very apparent. That clash of political ideologies has festered up to now and Unionist unity has fractured and weakened their position in NI. The election of Sinn Fein to be a majority party at Stormont IMO signals the end of the Union. Also the Brit govt is bound by the Good Friday Agreement to legislate for a border poll. The only thing Johnson and his Tory clown show can try to do is delay it for as long as possible. This only makes the outcome of an end of the Union more certain and Sinn Fein, it's leadership and prominent people in the nationalist community will be well aware of this eventually happening.
PS: We've got enough (too many!) toxic Orange marches happening in Scotland during the summer months without having more of these nutters crossing the Irish Sea to give us even more probs.

Nicola is now the longest serving FM in Scotland - a milestone moment for her since taking over from Ecky in 2014. Over a year ago the Tory-Unionist bastards down south (and in Scotland), together with colluding antagonists in their RW press/media, tried to bring her down on a "bumped up" ministerial code breach - terrorised the FM for months AND FAILED!! The irony is that their own leader, Johnson, is an untrustworthy scheming and lying toad of a PM who should be resigning from his own position this morning - his offences are numerous and diabolical compared with anything our FM has ever done - INCOMPARABLE!! Again "ripped to shreds" by Ian Blackford in the HoS debating chamber today and urged to resign, Johnson impudently replying that the Gray report should be read in his defence. IMO Gray, a civil servant, should never have been allowed to compile this report, it should've been done independently much in the same way as was done in the case of our esteemed FM last year.

The cancellation of the HS2 Golborne Link, announced 30 mins before Johnson's confidence vote on 6 June, just reeks of Brit govt cynicism AGAIN!! The high speed rail project has taken in a lot of Scottish tax and other Scottish resource money to finance it and there is little benefit coming out of it for Scotland - another stand up joke!! And "considering an alternative" say the Tories??? Absolute bullshit! This is more cost-cutting, pure n simple!!
