Nicola Sturgeon finally begins the process of separation!
I've not had as much time recently to read all the news, but I can't believe that Nicola really felt she had to apologise to those convicted of witchcraft 3 or 4 hundred years ago. What about those ruined by The Darien Scheme in Panama, whose failure indirectly led to the Union Of The Crowns? Scotland's history is full of financial ruin, tragedy and death. Is she going to apologise for all that?

Has the world gone mad or is it just me, an old fuddy-duddy, who thinks this political correctness is totally over the top? Angry

Small rant over. Smile

To the Act of Union, not the Union of the Crowns. That had already happened, back in 1603.

Thanks, Ska'd. History was always one of my poorer subjects at school and it shows.

And just confirmed by the Scot Tories that the Brit PM, Johnson, will attend the Scot Tory conference in Aberdeen after wee "spineless" Doogie's previous critical remarks (and letter to the Tory 1922 committee) that Johnson should resign and he "won't be allowed anywhere near the conference"!!!?? So much for proper principles and having a sound moral compass. Didn't the previous Scot Tory leader, Ruth Davidson, do the same thing on a number of occasions??? So they effectively concede to their head office in London and lose all credibility in the process. It totally baffles me that a lotta Scot people will still show up at this Tory conference to watch and support shameless bastards like Johnson and Ross who are at loggerheads anyway, but Ross doing a humiliating U-turn under the "smokescreen" of the war in Ukraine. He has been clearly overruled by his conniving boss from London!! Who votes for them??? And are they really stupid people who seriously dinnae have a clue re what they are all about with a total disregard for Scotland and Scottish sovereignty??? The word "scunnered" comes to mind for good reason!!!

Reading comments by Michael Glackin in the ST who says the Russian invasion of Ukraine has changed UK energy security. The answer, he says, is to drill for more oil and gas, frack and build nuclear power plants??? IMO what Scotland needs is to restore its independence so it can forge its own energy strategy and provide its citizens with security, safety, affordability, jobs and a more sustainable and hopeful future. It seems that many reputable people/politicians (some not so reputable btw!) at COP26 professed so much positive assurances re the way forward to tackle climate change effectively - HAVE BECOME FICKLE AND NOW CLINGING TO PROCRASTINATION RATHER THAN STILL DRIVING FORWARD WITH THE POLICIES THEY WERE PREACHING ABOUT ALTHOUGH WEE GRETA UNIMPRESSED WITH THE BLAH, BLAH, BLAH AND SHE WAS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT TO BE SCEPTICAL.

Wee Doogie "U-turn" Ross professing at the Scot Tory Conference that "second place is not good enough". So the deluded prick saying that he'll "take back Scotland and become our new First Minister in 2026"????? I reckon third place or even fourth place is more appropriate for this dickhead who has no solid principles or moral compass attached to him at all. I'm curious to hear how my fellow Scots view such a horrendous prospect albeit a well nigh impossible one to fulfil anyway and thank god for that!!

Did you know that the state in which you live almost changed its name this week? The Belfast Telegraph reported that Unionists in NI welcomed a climbdown by the Brit govt over customs regs that proposed changing all mentions of the "United Kingdom" to "Great Britain" while removing all mention of Northern Ireland. Another clear example of the whole obsessive nature of these fascist Brexit morons re Great Britain and the GB brand that infuriates me beyond belief!!
Sky News reported that the Foreign Sec and UK Brexit negotiator, Liz Truss, ordered officials to investigate how the the Statutory Instrument was allowed as in multi amendments to the Customs (EU Exit) Regs 2022 it was proposed to impose this GB words enforcement. What is a SI? It's a power normally conferred on a Minister of the Crown. The minister is then able to make the law. Parliament can either approve or reject it, but can't amend it, thereby reducing scrutiny. You can see where I'm going with this eh - COULD SCOTLAND ONE DAY FIND ITSELF THE SUBJECT OF SUCH A SIGNIFICANT CHANGE TO HELP MATTERS "CONTINUE SMOOTHLY" AD INFINITUM????? The Brit govt and all the colluding Unionists - Labour, Lib Dem and others, are never gonna release Scotland easily from the "shackles" of a historically out of date doc called the Treaty of Union 1707 and that's a fact. We have a lot more to offer than these cretons are ever willing to reveal or admit and that is another fact as well as never accepting the inevitable break up of a fractured Union in the same way that they forced through the break up of the union/treaty with the EU. Their hypocrisy on the subject of self-determination is jaw dropping and it never changes!! Thumb down Just study some of their recent pro-constitution comments on Ukraine alone and be enlightened!! For example, both Boris Johnson and Sir Keir Starmer made statements, on tv no less, to the effect that nations and people do have the right to choose the government of their own choice AND OTHERS HAVE NO RIGHT TO INTERFERE!! So when we in Scotland talk about a Section 30 order, what is it that we actually want???????? Esp if say a Brit govt official like Johnson goes to a Supreme Court to argue against a Scotindy referendum that is precisely against the very words he has been preaching re the constitutional right of a sovereign country. Btw most political correspondents and foreign affairs progs regard the Sec 30 argument as a "red herring" and we don't need a Section 30 order anyway. There was a big debate a few weeks ago on a German News channel re this very subject, Scottish independence, and the unanimous view was that Scotland didn't need one. That is also the main consensus in Europe and the USA.

I have never understood why a supposedly socialist party would support self-determination for the people of former African, Caribbean and Asian colonies and yet allow Nationalist parties closer to home to steal most of the policies they themselves should be supporting and put the case for independence. If the people of Scotland want to be independent then that's what they should be. I could understand Labour's reluctance when it relied on Scottish votes to gain power at Westminster, but by its own stupidity and inaction it has surrendered that position forever. A proper Labour Party would be pro-self-determination for Scotland, would be working towards a United Ireland and it would be up to the Welsh what they wanted.

Where we put all the nuclear weapons we like the Scots to sit on, how the Scots afford and create a capacity to defend themselves.... and whether they join NATO and Spain ever allows them to become part of the EU will be just some of the questions time will answer. But other European countries answer them. No one seriously thinks Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania should not exist. Only Putin and a few nutters in Serbia think Ukraine is still part of a Soviet Union which exists only inside their own heads.

Jamaica is moving on to become an independent and prosperous country says their forthright PM to Kate and William. And why not eh!! Good on you mate and I must say I'm envious because IMO Scotland should be close to the same position in the quest for self-determination.

Gordon Brown recently challenged, "Why he never delivered on his devo-max promise to the Scottish people in 2014". His shameless answer -"LOOK AT THE SMALL PRINT"???????????????
There is no doubt that Gordon Brown is not an unintelligent person; so why is the man who was one of the architects of devolution so vehemently opposed to its natural progression to independence?
He is said to be planning another “devo-max” option in the event of indyref2, to give Scotland full economic independence, while still being subject to Westminster rule – fools us once..........BUT WILL SCOTS REALLY BE DAFT ENOUGH TO FALL FOR THIS QUISLING'S SHIT AGAIN???
