It took a long time to get this game to a conclusion, with Darvel and Brechin City drawing 2-2 in normal time. Both sides missed their 2nd penalties, but Darvel eventually won 5-4 on penalties when Ross Thomson scored the winning goal. They now travel to Arbroath in the 4th Round.
Let's hope for a calm day as Gayfield, Arbroath's home ground, has a reputation for difficult wind conditions. Almost 3 years ago, their match against Stranraer was called off after 12 minutes due to the conditions. During the 12 minutes, Arbroath conceded a corner when their keeper took a goal-kick which blew back over the line. I'm not sure if it was the same match, but it once took about 5 minutes to take a goal-kick as the ball kept blowing away.

The Hibs v Cove Rangers tie has been brought forward to tomorrow (Thursday) night at 7.45pm, as it's live on the BBC Scotland channel (115 on my Sky telly).
Hibs have plenty of incentive to do well to impress new manager, Shaun Maloney. Unfortunately, Cove Rangers will have great incentives too, being 8 points clear in League One and looking for a major scalp, Paul Hartley (ex-Hearts) is their manager and with Rory McAllister scoring 16 goals in 28 games, they will be dangerous. Beware.
Of absolutely no interest to me, but maybe for someone else, Rangers play Stirling Albion on Friday night at 7.45pm, live on Premier Sports - no chance of the Beeb getting that one. The other ties are being played on Saturday afternoon, with Auchinleck Talbot v Hearts featured at 12.30pm on BBC One Scotland.

Sorry, Devongone, but the romance of the Scottish Cup is now over with all the non-league sides knocked out. Annan Athletic, 3rd in Scottish League Two, are now the lowest-ranked club.

Quarter-final Draw
Hearts v St Mirren
Dundee United v Celtic
Dundee v Rangers
Motherwell v Hibernian
The games are due to be held on the weekend of Saturday 12 March. There is potential for any one of three city derbies in the Final, although I'm sure St Mirren and Motherwell will want to have a say in that. I'm fairly certain the Dundee v Glasgow ties will be on Premier Sports, with the Beeb getting the other two, but time will tell.
