Ledson To Miss Remainder Of Season
c

Manager Ryan Lowe has confirmed Ryan Ledson will miss the remainder of the season as he is set to undergo an operation on a knee injury.

The Preston North End midfielder has been struggling with a recurring problem during the current campaign and the operation is set to clear up those issues, but he is not expected to return before the end of the season.

It is hoped that this procedure will mean that Ryan can make a full recovery prior to the squad’s return to pre-season in June.

Manager Ryan Lowe said: “His knee’s fine in a way, but ultimately he needs another little bit of a clear out in there and I couldn’t risk Ryan until the end of the season by putting him into a game.

“I wouldn’t have been able to live with myself if he was to take a nasty injury or challenge and that would be Ryan, so I took it out of his hands.

“I said ‘go and get the operation as soon as you possibly can’ and he’s due to get the operation in ten days’ time I think it is.

“That will see him finished now until the end of the season and then hopefully we can get Ryan back as himself, 100 per cent, for pre-season and we’ll have the Ryan Ledson who everyone has seen what he does.”

Everyone at PNE would like to wish Ryan a speedy recovery.

Preston North End U18 have sealed the Youth Alliance League and Cup double thanks to a 4-1 victory away to Luton Town!

North End, who were crowned league champions in April, went to Kenilworth Road on Tuesday night and got the better of Merit League 2 champions Luton Town to clinch the double.

The sides went into the break level after Josh Seary’s 36th-minute strike was cancelled out before half-time, however goals from Finlay Cross-Adair, Mikey O’Neill and Aaron Bennett earned the victory for Nick Harrison’s side.

Preston North End are delighted to announce that Jacob Slater has signed his first professional contract with the club, keeping him at Deepdale until at least the summer of 2025.

Slater, who joined the club at U12s level, was a key player in the U19s' title-winning campaign last season, and went on to make his first team debut against Huddersfield Town in the Carabao Cup back in August.

The 17-year-old has signed a two-year professional deal after impressing first team boss Ryan Lowe, and has been a regular in the travelling squad for first team fixtures this season.

Speaking after putting pen to paper on his deal, Jacob said: "The last two months or so have been brilliant for me and I never really expected it to all come this quick but I'm really happy to get it over the line and I just want to continue trying to progress now.

"I definitely didn't expect to be here, it all happened really quickly, I was playing with the youth team and then two weeks later I was making my debut for the first team.

"I think that's credit to the gaffer for giving young kids the pathway and they know now that they have got a manager that will play them if they are doing well and I think that Preston North End is a brilliant place for a young player to be."

Manager Ryan Lowe added: "I'm really pleased for Jacob, credit to him and his family really, he's obviously burst on the scene from the youth team and he's come up and trained with us for large parts of the season and stood out fantastically well.

"He made his debut in the cup, was on the bench in the Championship and we feel he's got a decent career ahead of him at Preston North End, hence why we wanted to tie him down to a long-term contract.

"This is why we say to all the kids that they have to make a very good impression when the manager or the first team coaching staff are watching, you have to make sure you perform. Jacob did perform in that Charnock Richard game and ever since then he's been up with us and he's continued to progress on a daily basis and hasn't looked out of place.

"We know he's a real asset and he's one we're really pleased to have tied down."

Preston North End’s Championship game against Reading has been moved to a 8pm kick-off on Friday 4th November after being selected for television coverage.

PNE were initially set to head to Berkshire for a 3pm kick-off on Saturday 5th November, but it will now be shown live on Sky Sports on the Friday night.

The trip to the Select Car Leasing Stadium will be the final away game prior to the break for the Qatar World Cup.

Our 2022/23 Championship fixtures against local rivals Blackpool will now both kick-off at the earlier time of 12.30pm, following police advice.

The first of this season's derby clashes takes place at Bloomfield Road on Saturday 22nd October, with the return fixture at Deepdale on Saturday 1st April.

Blackpool have also confirmed that the club will be given a total allocation of 2,082 tickets for the fixture at Bloomfield Road, with ticket details to be confirmed in due course.
