WBA Transfer Window: (Summer 2015) Starting early..
Aries... Thumb up

At the end of last season, when JP ripped up the squad (but should have kept Alf) after somehow avoiding relegation, we were all 'assured' that JP was back on track, learnt his lesson and a new squad would be arriving made up of excellent footballers identified by our excellent scouting and recruitment team and to be 'honed' by our fantastic coaching staff under the stewardship of a new 'man' with 'Prem experience'!!

Here we are again, not 6 months later, mid season and after getting it all wrong yet again, find ourselves back in the relegation mix and banking on 'firefighter' Pulis to get us out of our self-inflicted mess.

He needs to do it and I think he will, because, as far as the Premier league is concerned, he better, because this is the last throw of the dice.

Everthing is in Tony Pulis's hands....who would have thought?

He had nothing to do with our latest transfer window fiasco but was proper hung out to dry by just about everybody. His lack of experience in such a high profile role coupled with our scattergun approach to buying players could only ever have ended one way.

I agree with all those statements Tidy, but Alan Irvine was completely the wrong appointment, for which Terry Burton and Jeremy Peace are responsible. Moreover, I have said elsewhere that I reckon Terry Burton is walking on thin ice now. I simply fail to see what he brings to the table. We certainly saw what he brought to the table last summer.

It's a damning inditement of last years signings that all, bar 4 are being moved on. Most without hardly playing.

In defence of Irvine. He was screaming this but no one was listening.
Irvine was happy enough to take the job knowing the situation.

He was...and he probably now thinks that he shouldn't have. Also JP was happy enough to offer him the job...and he probably now thinks that he shouldn't have.

What has become apparent is that TP seems to be a much better motivator than all the previous coaching staff including Irvine. And anyone that can get JP to change his mindset must have something about him.
Agreed, tidy.
I'm liking some of these links.

Antonio would be great, Anichebe build, pace and goals from the wing. Pulis would love him too, excellent in the championship and imo would step up well. Forest have a transfer embargo so a swap deal (probably for Dorrans/Samaras/Gamboa) is the only way a deal is likely.

Essien reminds me of the Hargreaves link years ago before he went to man city, it probably won't happen and he wouldn't do much (probably be injured loads and Essien has gone further downhill than Hargreaves at the time) but he used to be incredible and he is one of my favourite payers ever so I'd be really excited and probably in tears. I'd maybe even buy the white shirt (or the away one).

Modeste played for Blackburn not long ago and wasn't up to much but he may have improved a decent amount by now (similar to Diouf), doesn't fill me with hope though.
a complete mess in less than 2 years.

It's perhaps no coincidence that it all seems to have happened since we lost Dan Ashworth to the England set up. Thanks a lot Woy!!!
Tick tock,...............

Just over a week left in the Transfer window ............

Looks like we are going to be in for one mad rush again Rolleyes
