Denmark are by far the best team in the group, they have some amount of talent in their starting 11. Much is going to come down to the remaining games with Israel and Austria.

First task for Scotland is find a way of combining your two best players to make one of the strongest and most threatening left sides in world football.

Second task is to find a way of not marooning your most powerful midfielder at centre back - I'm guessing that might involve finding someone who is less prone to an error than Grant Hanley.

Third task - with four divisions at home to look at, and the whole of England to scour for Scottish ancestry, surely there has to be a younger and safer alternative to Craig Gordon between the sticks? (I know that's rich coming from an Englishman when our only goalkeeper is being destroyed for his inability to produce a Cruyff turn or pass like Zidane, in order that he can be replaced by a Teflon-coated blocker with ambitions to play No 10.)

Fourth task - find someone even a bit sharper than Che Adams to play alongside him. You can't always expect McGinn to cover the lack of forward goals.

Fifth task - to look as though you think you deserve to win as you did last night against the Faroes, rather than maybe humbly stumble to a draw as you did against Israel.

Of course very little of this will apply against England. Any team that can impose itself on our team and our game could beat England, irrespective of how strong the two teams look on paper. You do have some players who could give England a problem.

For starters, one must immediately comment that their goalie position alone is far superior to anything Scotland has at the mo. IMO Schmeichel would've competently saved both shots/conceded goals in the Austria and Israel matches rather than Marshall doing the exact opposite. How many points would we have accumulated if Schmeichel had been "between the sticks" for Scotland eh!? It would've been more than 5 pts IMO!
