2014-15 Second Half & January Transfer Window
the blades did it when they reached the prem. It's different now to when we were last in the top division, there's a lot of people who will go to games because they are prem games, we also have a large student population who would be attracted to games because they're premier league

No we haven't, but we also haven't been in the premier league in this current era where grounds are typically closer to capacity than any time before. I add that a lot of teams now have stadium that are much smaller than ours and often in the 30,000 range but teams do tend to sell out far more games than they used to when we were in the top flight. Our biggest problem would be the away end as I said earlier where including the crows nest there are 8,000 seats. Due to the nature of this stand it cannot be split between away and home fans so we would be reliant on the away team selling a lot of tickets as they would generally be given the whole end (or 6,600 tickets without the Crow's Nest being included for segregation purposes). Most new stadiums have a much smaller section for away fans than we do due to this.

We need a new **** staduim , before we go up !! even if it just means nice bars tvs and toilets and dfeinatly the away end needs knocking to the floor !!! The biggest reason is so we can forget about the **** scousers !! and it needs to be big enough to fit in 5,000 away fans and at least 3,000 wednesday fans !! we need to make our ground more intimidating for the away team  Thumb up  we should also do something about joining the stands all of them together again to make a better atmosphere  Thumb up  so revamp it and we make it a little bit bigger capacity wise maybe to fill in 45,000 when liverpool & man united come to town  Thumb up  the rest we are talking 35,000 max for the likes of Newcastle sunderland chelsea everton Arsenal spurs ? we wouldnt get more than 30,000 though for the likes of stoke wba etc boring wank clubs  Whistle

Agree with most of this. More & more grounds are putting the away fans down the side in a corner so they can impact less on the match. Maybe we should look to put the away fans in the western section of the south stand & let home fans fill a new improved west stand.

We should notice how crowds have increased significantly at new grounds (Brighton, Derby, Sunderland, Arsenal, Leicester, Rotherham, Shrewsbury etc.) and that crowds have filled grounds that have improved & increased their capacity (Man Utd, Liverpool, Spurs, Preston, Newcastle etc.).

Whilst gate income is relatively less important, it is still important; hence why Chelsea, Spurs & Liverpool are all looking to increase their capacity. When we played Arsenal in those cup finals, their average home gate was similar to our (26-27k) but when they built the Emirates, their home crowds pretty much doubled overnight. Brighton was even more dramatic. 5k at the Goldstone became 2k at the Withdean which leaped to 26k at the Amex (the best ground in SBC by a distance IMO).

It is someway off but there is a big decision to be made. Do we spruce up The Old Lady or do we grasp the nettle & move to a 21st century stadium that can make us a PL force? Clearly if you build it, they will come.

I think building a new stadium would be great but if we did it would be built like all the other new ones we have seen recently and would have a capacity of approx 30,000. I would prefer to spend the money on Hillsborough, knock the West Stand down and build one that connects to both the south and North stand and then give away fans the corner between the south and new west stand. Replace the roof on the kop to remove the pillars and pretty much leave the south stand alone. Aside from that the concourses need a vast improvement, easily done in the North and South stands where there is room to make the improvements, much harder for the kop though because of the mound of dirt underneath it. If money permitted I would knock the kop down, get rid of the old mound and rebuild from level ground to produce the space to have concourses behind and under a new stand. I would also buy up the land across Penistone Road from the Kop, and turn it into a sort of fan-fest area with food and drink being available before and after the game, but all services owned by the club and entrance only available to season ticket holders. I would also start a campaign to buy all the houses on the street behind the North Stand with the eventual aim of improving the club shop, adding parking space and redevloping the whole stand.

No idea how much that would cost but I am sure it would be cheaper than a 30k do-it-yourself kit stadium plus the cost of the land to build it on!!

The cost of a new ground wouldn't be as great as you would think because the current ground would be snapped up at good rates by a developer or supermarket.

It would be crucial that any new ground has at least 40k capacity with the potential to expand. SCO's suggestion is pretty much the one in the Lee Strafford plan, which I liked.

The fact that nothing is being spent on the ground just makes me wonder if the plan is to build a new super stadium.

I don't think any plan to either revamp S6 or build a new ground exists at the moment. MM will not pay for anything at the ground unless it absolutely needs doing, hence the old scoreboard being there still. The only way we would get improvements or a new one is if we get taken over by a new owner who has the money to build a team and improve the facilities!!

Besides staying where we are is very nostalgic for most fans, even if it needs a lot of work and can you imagine the trauma the club would have to go through to get any sort of decent planning permission from Sheffield City Council?? They have a bad reputation with these things for a reason!!!

We couldn't put away fans anywhere but the lep because syp and the safety group shit their sens when anyone brings more than a car full. Same with putting home fans within 400m of the lep.

These are pictures of how the ground would have looked if we had won the World Cup bid several years ago and the redevelopment had taken place.

Don't know if these plans have been scrapped of or are still on the table.

And I agree with Imre, get rid of that Dancing thingy Thurnscoe, its very cringeworthy Sick
