2014-15 Second Half & January Transfer Window
I still think May could come good, he gets in the right positions, just needs to bag a couple to get his confidence back. Having someone like Baker in midfield could really help May, if Baker can score goals, like Lee did today, then it will take some pressure off the strikers!! Both goals came from midfield today which is god to see, need one or two from defence as well, but the strikers need to score as well obviously!!

May was poor in front of goal today but his link up with everyone else was good. He needs a goal.

Nuhiu was in the same boat a month ago but today he won everything again, linked up well and was getting shots on target. He could have had 2 goals himself but for good defensive clearances on the line. This has all come from getting a couple of goals over christmas

Still think this guy would solve our goal scoring problems!!

Doesn't appear that we are in for him, but his goal scoring record this season is right up there with the best!!

Its good to see some of our youngsters getting loan opportunities at other clubs, been a long time since we had many decent prospects.

Should we stick or twist???

Same question for Westwood. Not sure we should let Lees go for 3m, would prefer to see us get 5m for him, especially as he is only 24!! As for Westwood, I would take 3-4m, more if we can get into a bidding war between a few clubs!! We also have a ready made replacement for Westwood in Kirkland, so its an easier decision maybe.

So I think we should hold out for as much as we can get but I would still be inclined to seriously consider any offer we get. The vital thing is that we get ewhat we can but then it gets reinvested back into the team, otherwise there is no point in doing it.

In recent matches, we gave three points away against Wolves, we collapsed at Fulham, then stumbled to a win against Blackpool courtesy of a penalty then stated poorly at Wigan but took the points after a red card.

All this suggests that we should be looking downwards, particularly added to the departure of Drenthe & McGugan.

However, the second half at Wigan was impressive. We then showed great pride at Man City then followed that with a comfortable win at Forest. On top of this Lee has returned to form, Maghoma has stepped up, we have had three consecutive clean sheets in the league, we have signed Baker, Nuhui has scored twice in two matches & Dielna oozes class.

Now we are looking upwards.

Stick. Our league position this year is purely down to our defensive record, if you get rid of the likes of Lees and Westwood we are in big trouble. Our goals for column reads VERY badly (only Blackpool have scored less than us), so we need to keep that defence intact if we wanna hold out any (slim!) hopes of success this year...

I think we should offer Westwood a contract extension to at least 3.5 years. If he refuses then we probably have to sell him either now or in the summer.

With Lees, we have less pressure to sell so can fend off bids until the summer at least.

MM should see this as an opportunity to challenge for the PL so should bring in a couple of top loan signings to boost our challenge.

If we sell either Lees or Westwood, this will just show the true ambition of Sheffield Wednesday, NONE, and if PL clubs came for these players then you couldn't blame them for going, unless MM & SG mate a statement with either good loanees or to the press saying we are not a selling club and want to push on this season and next.

But we all know what WILL happen !!, mid table mediocrity again I'm afraid..
