British shellfish sales to the EU (mostly France and Spain) are worth £430m a year – more than a quarter of all UK fish exports by value. They are vital to small-scale fishermen in Scotland and the West Country. Its only taken off because of the single market.
French, German and danish boats take a lot of fish from our waters but they are mostly those which UK consumers don’t like. Much of the fish caught by Danish boats is so-called industrial species (sprats and horse mackerel) which go to feed pigs.
We import 70% and export over 80% The UK already has most of the quotas for haddock and generous quotas for cod (which is anyway growing scarce once again).
The leave campaigns case about the EUs unfairness here has always been 'fishy'.

The slimy, slippery little Tory "eel", Mikey Gove, represented the Brexit interests of Scottish fishermen!! We'll see how that turns out in the months ahead!! All these wonderful promises by a shit-heid representing an unscrupulous shit heid Tory govt! I wouldn't trust that selfish xxxx with a "cairry oot", never mind the secure future of the fishing industry

THAT'S EXACTLY THE POINT JIM! He is an ex hack who peddles lies!!! That's what this con man does and he believes it is normal to deceive and con people with anything that enters his head. He does not represent anything close to traditional conservative party values either - an utter farce to watch him brazenly "getting away" with the shit that he utters and he'll continue to do it. I watched a clip of his brief visit to NI to formally broker the opening of Stormont. He did shake the hand of Sinn Fein's leader, Mary Lou McDonald but his body language was all wrong and of course Mary Lou had no time for Johnson anyway apart from "going through the motions". The man is a total "pudding" but he doesn't care at all!! It was also noticeable that the brief bbc coverage of this event centred on the DUP's leader, Arlene Foster, and her role in Stormont. McDonald is significantly involved in the leadership of Stormont and yet SHE WAS TOTALLY MARGINALISED BY THE BBC MEDIA MACHINE! Crass politics indeed and no different from the continual RW media and bbc misrepresentations against the non-unionist SNP!! Now we hear from Michel Barnier that there will be border checks within NI - again it just exposes the lying Brexit bastards like Johnson and his unscrupulous fascist chums!! It won't go down well in NI, that's for sure, but I don't think Johnson actually cares - this is all about the republic of Brexit England and I wish they'd just formally f### off and split up this "precious union" that they keep bogusly preaching about ad nauseum!!

I think we are going to see many, many things where a compromise needs to be reached, so we should expect to see more articles like this. Some we will get what we want, others we will need to give something up, its going to be interesting to see what the Tories and the EU prioritise for themselves!! Financial Services is something that the UK will absolutely prioritise, keeping London as a financial hub will be critical to the UK economy so I expect some smaller parts of our economy will suffer to keep that. In this instance I think the EU might have a harder time than the UK will, they are trying to accommodate 27 countries that have 27 differing economies and 27 differing markets/products that they trade with the UK.

I still think NI is gonna be the big political minefield for Brexit - another devolved country with none of the political parties supporting the Withdrawal Agreement!!!! They all know it is gonna be a practical nightmare regardless of Johnson's assurances that there will be no checks on goods coming across the sea, no tariffs, no nothing - bullshit!! And to the MLAs, Johnson's "charm offensive" will not "wash" as it looks like the PM's great(?) Brexit recipe is more spatchcock than "oven ready"!! Also the Irish govt has already said that it is under no pressure to comply with Johnson's timetable to conclude by the end of 2020. The hard truth is that nobody but no-one in the EU is taking Johnson's "bluff n bluster" seriously. And the Institute of Government agrees, reporting that the government's short timeline for sorting out the border issue is "undeliverable. News from the IFG also reveals that Westminster could face legal action from the European Commission if they fail to deliver the necessary computer systems in order to implement the NI Protocol which involves highly complex customs arrangements and regulatory and customs checks between the North and the rest of the UK. This could take up to 5 years to commission and set up properly, making Johnson's 11 month target totally unrealistic and foolhardy - something many of us suspected all along!! In the report it states that "failure to comply with the Withdrawal Agreement could see the Euro Commission begin infringement proceedings and the UK ending up at the European Court of Justice". Oh dearie, dearie me!

You are mistaking this for a compromise.
The EU are going to threaten to block the City of London’s access to European markets if Johnson tries to exempt the UK from its laws. This is why several huge companies including TOTAL have moved their operations away from London recently.
The fishing industry will be next to get thrown under the brexit bus with the DUP, because financial services is the only thing that matters.

Even though the fishing industry in Scotland only comprises 2% of Scot GDP, I still await "with great interest" to see what these conniving, unscrupulous Tories/Brexit extremists "pull" on the people who believed their shit and voted for them!!

Things just hotting up in NI aswell, a legal case is likely to be brought against Boris for his lies on the border issue, EU ministers confirming border checks will be introduced, something Boris told the NI people would not happen.
