As this is possibly the best thread to post under, as Brexit has not been done yet, I'd like to raise potential problems re Boris' amended Bill. Presumably the Bill will successfully pass through Westminster, but it still has to approved by the EU. That is, all of the EU27. Is there any chance that one of them might take exception to one of the amendments?

Good point Ritchie - they have altered the agreed WA without the consulting the EU and its entirely possible barnier might go "Go xxxx yourself with a chlorinated chicken leg, we have had quite enough now.".... On the other hand the mood music in Europe is that they want this over now and they will likely agree. The sooner we go the more it helps the EU.

Boris is probably hoping they impede it - so he can move to his wet dream no deal brexit.

This is a suggestion that I'm sure was made in at least one thread quite a while ago re this original OP by Matt and I totally agree with it and have been flabbergasted that such a cover-up of the shameless lies that have been "peddled" re Brexit, clearly by people within the British govt and others like Farage and his cohorts, have been allowed to pass without challenge or formal scrutiny. It is outrageous in the fact that lessons must be learnt through the democratic process of scrutiny that allows people to at least see how such outrageous acts have been allowed to pass and what should be done to tackle it in the future.

Noticed there northern Ireland businesses are threatening to sue the UK government for compensation over Boris's "oven ready" deal.

80 billion quid pissed against the wall over this nonsense. Just think what a responsible government could have done with that money.

To plug the hole due to the 'missing' UK's money after Brexit, the 27 EU members would have to increase their EU membership fee from the present 1% GNI (GNI is similar to GDP) to 1.1% GNI. Shocking.

The 'missing' UK's net contributions to the EU budget will be about 10 billion € per year.

There are about 445 million people in the EU27.

So the missing UK's money equals to

= 22.50 € per year per EU27 citizen
= 1.90 € per month
= 0.40 € per week
= 0.06 € per day

The EU has its problems of course but the UK leaving isn't going to make it go bust.

Remember the days where it would be the easiest thing in the world to get a trade deal with the EU ? Remember when redwood,davis and blowjo were talking up how much the EU need us and throw all their rules to the side for us? Remember how Ireland was to be thrown under the bus ? Instead the vile DUP got chucked under it. Remember that fuckwit from weatherspoons going on about all the advantages of brexit while making his biggest ever investment in the republic of Ireland ?

If the adverse effects of Brexit start to bite sooner, then Johnson’s spending economic stimulus (if you believe what he says he’s going to do) may well mitigate the inevitable loss of GDP in the poorest areas. But its a big IF.

My guess is though he’ll spend the bare minimum increase for his manifesto pledges, give tax cuts for the richest and this will result in a short term boom followed by the inevitable bust. The bust may be a full blown financial crisis depending upon the timing of Brexit and when the adverse effects of that start to kick in.

Not one government report or study says we will be better off after brexit. Not one.

I totally agree with these sentiments. Also note Johnson confirming government borrowing is gonna happen - WELL THAT'S NO SURPRISE EH!! We're already in debt by approx £1.1T and how much have we lost on this whole Brexit fiasco since Cameron's utter folly and concession to the RW morons in his own political party??? £150B-£200B? Did you hear the representatives of the UK Fishing industry being interviewed this morning?

Keen as mustard for Brexit as they confidently believe the UK will have the exclusive use of UK waters, massively increasing their catch, whilst retaining free access to the EU market that currently takes 70% of their output.


Why they think that ? "Iceland and Norway" was the response.

Ignoring that they are both in EEA and Schengen. They are in for a massive wake up call.

From a fish conservation point a view I wouldn't trust these fishermen "as far as I could jump". And their contribution to GDP is about a measly 2%!! Leave them "to swim with the fishes"!!
