She’s not wrong, surely nationalism is nationalism at the end of the day. Sure the ultimate goals may be different but as she says in the context of the UK or the EU, both countries nationalism wants to break their country away from the Union they are in.

That is utter rubbish and the insinuation has been previously mentioned and "trashed" in threads within this OP! Fickleness prevails again! The word "nationalism" in a Scottish context has been abused so many times by many "suspects" in exactly the same way that has been described and lets have the facts repeated again for any antagonist to "take it in and register it this time". Scottish nationalism (boyyy, I hate that word so much because of the serial misuse of it to denigrate the Scot nationalist cause!!!) is actually a form of left of centre civic nationalism (inclusive and welcoming!) rather than the extreme version of English nationalism and all the negative connotations attached to it!! I'd suggest to any budding insinuator that they come to Scotland and reside here for a couple of months to actually realise the difference and study the progressive governance that is fairly self-evident to anyone living here on a regular basis. Sure, the end objective is similar in the fact that we wanna separate from the union but don't dare compare the two concepts and say they are the same because of a common word called "nationalism"!! This is utter tripe that has been "pulled" before and as for Swinson, that sums her up as the undemocratic "chancer" that suits her rules only!! In other words, you can have a vote, that's allowed, but as long as that vote is agreeable to my rules and my preferences!!?? And she calls herself a f###### LiberalDEMOCRAT??? She is actually a unionist hypocrite "on the prowl" and don't be fooled by this woman - SHE HAS FORM!!

You are jumping to a few conclusions there!!! Nationalism, Unionism, Patriotism, all words that mean something in the big scheme of things, but all words that can be used positively or negatively based on the actual goal that is trying to be achieved. If the nationalism goals you want are born out of racism or, as seen in Scotland at times in the past, sectarianism, then that is completely and utterly wrong and should be rightly condemned.

You are right, current Scottish nationalism has an independence from the UK goal, a goal to govern yourselves and be in control of your own destiny - that are very valid reasons for nationalism. In the case she was talking about, the current English nationalism with regards to pulling out of the EU, which is a very similar set of goals to the Scottish version, again its opinion based goals but a valid form. English Nationalism that we see from some extreme elements that is based on racism is not acceptable, but equally this is not the only form of nationalism you find in England, especially since the Brexit vote. People who use the word Unionist as a bad thing are equally as wrong as you say she is. There is nothing wrong with being a Unionist that wants to see the UK remain together, I would prefer to see the Union stay together and move forward together, so in terms of the UK I would be a Unionist!! If you do ever leave the UK and join the EU, then you will potentially become unionists in favour of your new union with the EU!!!!

These words can all too often be made to sound negative, or can be attached to a negative cause as we used to see with the flag of St George and the Union Jack in the past, but ultimately they are just words and labels attributed to lots of scenarios, some good, some not. The Yanks are masters of this, Republicans using the words socialism or democratic or liberal in a negative way any time they can, making their supporters dismiss anything associated with those terms, yet the country is born on the values these words refer to. Changing the meaning to suit a message is wrong no matter how it gets dressed up.

No - she is completely wrong and she knows it.

Professor Curtice's study completely dismantled that argument for good, its kind of sad to see people using it especially down south when they have not one xxxx clue about Scottish politics or nationalist politics which is pretty much all about inclusivity.

Hear hear and well said!! Inclusiveness, a pluralist society and a welcoming culture are the key words in emphasising that difference to people who have not got a clue how different it is up here in Scotland. I've said this many times before that Scottish culture and politics are vastly different from the "poison" that is self-evident in England and the consistent voting intentions of the majority of the Scottish public tend to bear that out even in the face of the "spoon fed" unionist propaganda provided by most of the media and "rags" up here in the quest to smash the Scot indy movement, a huge movement that they and the British state still "can't get their heads around" and come to terms with while Westminster effectively "burns down" and parliament is "totally broken"! We are still secure and stable up here with a forward-thinking Scottish government that is by no means perfect but most people realise how progressive it actually is and it represents the interests of the Scottish people.

And so it begins. Blowjo is going after the Scottish gov now. Funding will be cut for Holyrood, this funding will be redirected to the new Scottish Office based in Edinburgh.

He's basically saying if you continue to vote for this party we don't like, we are going to take powers away from you and do things the way we want to.

The whole argument he is basing it on is a complete lie, for instance scotlands NHS performs to a higher standard than englands or wales. The truth is out there !

Yep! Just listening to this shit heid this morning and it is all RW fascist stuff because they still "CANNAE GET THEIR HEIDS AROUND THE EXISTENCE OF A WELL-SUPPORTED SNP AND A HUGE SCOT INDY MOVEMENT"!!! It is actually unbelievable stuff as we are watching a colonialist style of disregard for Scotland, the Scottish govt and the Scottish people. Johnson's reference of criticism re the Scot NHS and Scot education is absolutely disingenuous and deceptive to suit a shit agenda that will not fool anyone in Scotland. I'm sure we will have the latest "wave" of this fascist British govt's backing media foisting their poisonous "spin" on the subject too!! My daughter actually works for the NHS and I know for a fact it is far superior to NHS England although under pressure as usual. She, and lotsa other staff, despised the antics of Theresa May and her govt and likewise, but even worse, re Johnson and his vile behaviour and RW populist remarks. What a poisoned country England is politically and Johnson and his "out of touch" Secretary of State for Scotland, Alistair Jack, should keep their noses well out of Scottish political affairs and business!!!!! They are absolutely desperate and "out of touch" with reality!!! Lastly, re the "agricultural money" that Johnson refers to, that money is £160M which is EU money held back by the Tory govt since 2016 - WHAT HE IS SAYING AND TRYING TO TAKE CREDIBILITY FOR IS AN ABSOLUTE LIE!! NO SURPRISE THERE BTW!!

One of the biggest Scot Indy AUOB marches ever witnessed on Scottish soil in Edinburgh yesterday and a huge turn out reckoned to be 200k+ on a rainy afternoon that made no difference to the huge attendance by men, women, children, families who wanna see democratic change and action towards self-determination for our sovereign country, Scotland. What was really noticeable was the blanket suppression of news on this momentous event - ABSOLUTELY AMAZING AND JAW-DROPPING IN A COUNTRY THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE SO DEMOCRATIC AND OPEN RE ISSUES LIKE THIS ONE!!! And yet one can observe the exact opposite in the impudent way that the evil forces of unionism have pervaded lotsa media information sources, incl the despised English Broadcasting Corporation, to suppress any news of said event and activities as much as they can - disgusting, autocratic behaviour in a country that does not deserve that nonsense, an absolute disgrace!!! Thankfully most people within the Scottish populace are well aware of this type of activity by the British state and their fascist backers - there are other ways to "send out the message" loud n clear!!

Excellent interview with Nicola Sturgeon regarding independence and what needs to happen for it to be achieved. I agree with everything she say here. It would be very easy to use the groundswell in favor of independence to rush the process or try to circumvent the legal rules, but if any independence is to stick and be recognized both in the UK and abroad then it must be done within the existing legal framework. Going down the Catalan route will not work!!

The majority of Scot indy supporters recognise the fact that Nicola has done a sterling job and she is the best political leader in the UK by a country mile. The "patient route" to Scot indy is what she has been advocating for quite a while and she has previously commented that she wants a referendum to happen when the YES result is absolutely certain and the majority of the Scottish populace are unaffected by a form of Unionist propaganda and "media pin" that will inevitably happen should the Scottish govt actually be given approval to issue a Section 30 order. However, there are other ways to push for Scot indy if Scots are faced with an intransigent British govt that does not recognise the Scottish mandate for self-determination - as undemocratic as it can be! With support for Scot indy and the SNP at an "all-time high", one can understand many factions in the indy movement "losing patience" and fearing that the political "lead players" in Scotland may well have "got it wrong", a common phrase being we may "miss the boat" in a huge political miscalculation. But that is what leadership and "staying calm" is what this is all about and, in the background, Nicola continues to forge alliances with powerful people in the EU and elsewhere. As the old saying goes: "Patience is a virtue" and please note Scotland has a new generation of young Scots coming through to supplement the already younger voters who are massively in favour of Scottish self-determination for the future!!
