Sensation! Celtic KO'd from the CL qualis by Cluj!!
#11
Looking at tonight's Champions League draw, Celtic would've been up against Barca, Inter and Borussia Dortmund - mouth-watering CL ties and huge money-makers but imagine the huge physical demands on the Celtic squad if that possibility had materialised!! I'd call it a "step too far" TBH!! But The Hoops want to be in there amongst the "big boys" in order to play at that higher level and improve their players as well as enhance player status.

You say that but looking at the HT score in tonights match they are going to be in the group stages of the Europa League anyway, so the potential toll on their squad will still be there. The only positive is that the opposition won’t be as tough so maybe Lenny can squad rotate a bit more that he could against CL opposition.

Yep Saint Charles Owl! I see they are 1-2 ahead on the night (1-4 agg) The same scenario more or less applies unless they get a very favourable draw but the extra matches and commitment will still be there v far better opponents than the Scot Premiership can offer. I notice Lenny signed Bauer, an Austrian full back on loan from Stoke City, and that adds some more cover for tired players. I suspect he may add another one or two before the "transfer window" closes.
