Thread to talk about football and wednesday in general
With hindsight we should have bitten off Leicester’s improved offer for GH and or played him a few games in the cup to boost even that value if he did well.

Your not missing the point at all.  Football for a Championship club like us gives us only two choices now - spend, spend, spend for a couple of seasons to try to reach the PL, if you do it great, if not you have to reboot and start again after a couple of seasons.  The second choice is to accept that we are a Championship club, spend far less, do not outright chase the dream of the PL but do just enough to stay in the league and occasionally make it to the playoffs, where its a crapshoot anyway!

We chose the first option and now we are having to reboot, probably a bit harder than we had hoped to but thats where we are.  Ipswich for me are the classic case of the other choice, never spend much, sell a decent player every so often, finish mid-table most seasons but flirt with both the playoffs or relegation every few years.  Others like this are Brentford, Preston, Bristol City, the Blunts and Reading.

We as fans bought into the idea of making a push for the PL when Chansiri came in, finally we had an owner with some money and he has shown he wasn't afraid to spend it!!  It almost worked for us for the first two season but in hindsight while we nearly got the promotion we wanted, we didn't buy the right sort of player (ie one that we could sell for a profit and cut the losses quickly) to be able to get out of FFP danger when we didn't go up.  Our fans on the whole want to be back in the PL, if we want an owner that also wants that and is prepared to give the manager the funds to achieve it then we will have to accept that if we do not go up then every 3 years or so we will have to slam the brakes on, sell players and then build again, there is no other way of doing it.

Unless of course as a fan base we no longer want the PL..............

To be fair he can only sell if we get offers!! I think he also thinks he will get more for them in January, as transfer fees tend to be higher then, and if our players do well then they will be in the spotlight more.

surley someone wants the crab and lees ? im 100% certain they do ?

Maybe not at the price we want for them. We have a big hole to fill in the accounts, getting a couple of million of reach of them is probably not worth it considering we cannot replace them and they are generally better than what we have in the squad. We can sell Westwood as we have two good young keepers, we could sell any of our strikers because we have a zillion of them anyway but we would struggle more if we lost those two.

Ive never heard or smelt so much bullshit in my life than this transfer embargo wank !

Transfer embargo has been lifted. Now if only we can find some mugs to come and play for us who will be willing to accept a bag of peanuts and free tickets to the circus instead of wages we'll be laughing.
Nothing changes,again.

Something has to have changed for the EFL to lift the embargo, our financial situation hasn’t changed between now and when the embargo was announced as far as we know.

Robert Huth is a free agent without a club, he could do a job for us in the same mould as Mick Lyons back in the 80s!!
