Snap Election 2018?
#1
Rumour going around that a snap election will be called in the Autumn because Brexit has split the Tory party and ministers are at loggerheads over Brexit.

They are, generations, towns, cities, countries, friends, neighbours, families all split. If we have another referendum it will split the nation again! Pandora's box has been opened and no one can shut it.

If the rumours are true and May will call another snap election it could end up in another hung parliament or the Tories could get in with a small majority.

The 'total mess' called the Conservative party/govt really should be 'hung out to dry' TBF but we know it aint gonna happen because of the poor state of the other opposition parties. However, I'd expect the predominant remain movement, that has gradually 'woken up' within the UK population and finally been enlightened re this whole Brexit fiasco, to have some kinda influence on the outcome of this possible snap election. I'll never fathom how we still have a decent proportion of a polarised British voting population that will leave the Toerags with some kinda semblance of power - absolutely bizarre! Of course I'm forgetting the ######## have most of the media/press backing them and will effectively shit on other credible opposition and 'get away with it' as usual! Also Boris as the preferred Tory PM? God forbid but it should usher in Scottish independence sooner rather than later!

If there is a snap election, it's bye bye Theresa and hello Jeremy with a Labour/SNP/Lib coalition. The Tories have made such a balls-up of just about everything that they can't possibly survive - please!. The one big problem with that is that the Labour Front Bench doesn't exactly fill me with hope, despite all their well-meaning pronouncements.

Well the debate for Scottish independence is apparently going to take place in the next coming weeks says Sturgeon.

I don't understand why they would call another snap election though? Doesn't make sense. The Tories are 3pts in the lead in the polls over Labour. You would expect an election next year after March 2019 when we supposedly leave the EU. It's a pretty big risk and gamble if another one is called this year.

Matt, it seems Nicola only said she supposed she would restart the debate. That's a long way off actually calling for one, then being given permission to hold one, then possibly 2 year's worth of talks on getting a deal on the terms of independence if she wins.

I agree about the Tories not calling a snap election. They'd be mad, but that would be par for the course, given her decision to go for a snap election in 2017.

Yeah I know that, because Parliament have to agree to giving Scotland a referendum. Could be 2020 till another Scottish indy referendum happens.

I cant see it ritchie. I think the tories would be crazy to go to the country again in the autumn. Why ? Because an election campaign plays to corbyn's strengths rather than may's and the press would be forced to give him a fair hearing again. I expect may to see her term out,no matter what happens with brexit.

I don't even think a labour or coalition win would be a given, even though it should. The anti brexit vote is starting to shift a wee bit from labour now and i don't think a lot of the brexit supporters are natural labour voters anyway.

Depends how the media spin it. The Tories were crazy to go to the Country back in 2017 when they had a small majority. Next election will have to be 2019 or 2020 unless there is a people's vote on the deal from the EU then the next election will be 2022. Can't see the Tories letting May go into another election as leader, they'll get rid of her and put someone else in place probably Rees-Mogg, Boris or Ruth Davidson.

Who would Labour go into coalition with? Lib Dems I very much doubt, SNP is more likely but if Labour went into coalition with the SNP the media would be spinning that Sturgeon is the organ grinder and the Labour leader is the monkey.

A lot of Brexit supporters are Tories, floating voters and some former Labour voters who went to UKIP who have pretty much become floating voters as UKIP is pretty much irrelevant now.
