Not surprised. He thought he'd cocked it up, only for the one who was in silver position to cock up even more.

It's good to see Snooty was up late/early to see Dom Parsons win GB's first medal of these games. Although everyone's commenting on how he benefitted from Dukurs' errors on the final run, don't forget he was only 0.02 seconds away from the Silver Medal.

Anyway we're now officially on a roll, with Lizzy Yarnold lying in 3rd (0.10 seconds behind) and Laura Deas in 4th (0.17 seconds behind) after the first 2 runs. Lizzy set a new track record in Heat 1 and Laura was 2nd fastest in Heat 2, so both have everything to gain tomorrow with Heat 3 at 11.20 tomorrow morning and Heat 4 at 12.45pm.

The GB Men curlers had a very good game against Sweden, despite losing 6-8 to Sweden at the last end. A couple of tactical errors and a couple of sweeping errors let the Swedes in and they are masters at taking advantage of any slight mistake. Canada and Sweden are way out in front with 4 wins each, with GB tied on 2 wins along with Italy, Switzerland and USA in 3rd equal. Tomorrow they play Korea in what will undoubtedly be a noisy match.

The GB Women have 2 games, the first against Denmark just after midnight, the second against a Korean team backed by an excitable crowd. Currently they lie in 3rd place, but need to get back on track with a convincing performance against the Danes, with some difficult games to come later.

Also of interest early tomorrow morning is the conclusion of the Ladies' 1500m and the Men's 1000m Short Track Speed Skating with both events being completed on the day, starting at 10.00am and the Medals being decided by 12.30pm. Elise Christie, Charlotte Gilmartin, Kathryn Thomson and Farrell Treacy are our athletes to watch out for.

In the Ladies Slopestyle Skiing, Isabel Atkins and Katie Summerhayes start their Qualification Run at 01.00am, with the target being the Finals at 04.00 onwards.

Super Saturday strikes again!

I suppose I'd better mention the curlers, even though the GB Men were gubbed 5-11 by Korea, to hand them their first win, with an end to go. They have been generally playing well as a team, but even that deserted them this morning. Sweden beat Canada by 5-2 to remain unbeaten after 5 games.

The GB Women were not much better, beating Denmark 7-6 in the first session, but also losing to Korea 4-7 by losing the last 3 ends after leading by 2 shots after 7 ends. The Women have definitely been below par, never looking to have that extra competitive edge required. Canada finally got their act together by thrashing USA 11-3 after 7 ends and the Swedish Women also remain unbeaten.

The Women play Sweden tomorrow with the Men facing Italy. Realistically, both teams need to win all their remaining games to qualify for the Semi-finals or hope for a similar failure by the teams around them.

Following on from Super Saturday, James Woods is our best bet for a medal tomorrow in the Men's Slopestyle Skiing at 01.15am in the Heats and hopefully 04.15am in the Final.

Ritchiebaby, how do you see the decision to dq Eve's final throw? I know the red light came on, but she clearly let go before it crossed the line. was it a double touch? Huh

Snooty, there's absolutely no doubt that she released the stone well before the hogline, but there might be a doubt whether or not there was a double touch. If she touched it again before the hogline, that's OK, but if she touched it again on or after the hogline, it would be a fouled stone. An umpire or a camera at the hogline would have made a decision right away and there would be no problem. Unfortunately in curling, technology has replaced the human eye and must not be challenged.  Doh  I feel that a perfectly good stone was removed (I would say that, wouldn't I?). The man who came on and tested the stone, didn't do it to see if the red light came on with a deliberately fouled stone at the hogline, so he was a complete waste of time.

Anyway, it is what it is, so the Women have got to move on to the next games which are now vital to our progress. They play Switzerland tomorrow lunchtime, Japan on Tuesday at breakfast time and finally Canada at just after midnight on Wednesday. Amazingly after today's defeat by 6-8 against Sweden, they are still in 4th equal position with China, although both teams have played one game more than the rest. Surely another defeat would see them fail to qualify. What is needed is Sweden or Korea to win their remaining games and keep the others at bay. They are definitely good enough to get through but the overall aura/mood surrounding the players is fairly negative. I would say that there might be something going on behind the scenes that we don't know about.

As far as the Men are concerned they won 7-6 against Italy after an extra end. They should have had a reasonably comfortable time of it, but an occasional bad stone at a vital time changed the whole dynamics of the game and the Italians always felt they had a chance. They too are equal 4th with Japan and Norway and have 3 games to play. As they have already played all 3 teams above them, they have an "easier" finish against Denmark tomorrow at 05.05, Norway at 00.05 on Tuesday and USA at 05.05 on Wednesday. Again Sweden could be our good friends with Canada helping out along the way.

To quickly summarise the other sports, James Woods came an agonising "minging" 4th in the Slopestyle and Brad Hall and Joel Fearon lie a very respectable 7th in the Bobsleigh event with 2 runs to come tomorrow at 11.15 and 13.00.

Penny Coomes and Nick Buckland begin the Ice Dance competition at 01.00 tomorrow and Aimee Fuller starts her qualification attempt at 01.00 in the Snowboard Big Air with Molly Summerhayes and Rowan Cheshire competing in the Ski Halfpipe also at 01.00. Aimee, Molly and Rowan should qualify for their Finals with Rowan being an outside medal chance on Tuesday.

The nerve-wracking curling competition continues with the Men beating Denmark 7-6 with the last stone and the Women beating Switzerland 8-7 with the last stone. There are still one or two errors but that is to be expected in high pressure situations. The important thing is that both teams are standing firm and playing as solid units. More of the same please in the next 2 games.

Brad Hall and Joel Fearon fell away slightly to finish in 12th position in the 2-man Bob, but were inside their target of Top 15. Both will be competing in the 4-man Bob on Friday and Saturday and will use these runs as a good practice session. The 2-man event Gold Medal was shared by Canada and Germany with a dead-heat.

Penny Coomes and Nick Buckland have qualified for the Free Dance programme in 10th place and will skate again tomorrow at 01.00, dancing to Butterflies and Hurricanes by Muse.

In the Ski Halfpipe, Rowan Cheshire has progressed to the Final 3 runs tomorrow starting at 01.30 in 9th place, but Molly Summerhayes dropped out in 17th place. In the Snowboard Big Air, Aimee Fuller fell twice in her runs and was a bit battered and bruised.

The Men's Ski Half-pipe Qualifiers begin tomorrow at 04.15 with Peter Speight, Alexander Glavatsky-Yeadon and Murray Buchan representing GB.

The GB Women Bobsleigh team of Mica McNeill and Mica Moore had 2 very good results in their training runs, finishing 2nd and 3rd and will look forward to take that form into the competition starting at 11.50 tomorrow. The Crowdfunded athletes will be trying to repay the faith shown by the public.

Kathryn Thomson is in Heat 4 in the Ladies' 1000m Short Track Skating with Elise Christie (fitness permitting) in Heat 5 and Charlotte Gilmartin in Heat 8. The Heats start at 10.00 and the first 2 in each Heat will progress to the Quarter-finals (and beyond) on Thursday.
