That Beswetherick comment has been the best part of my Saturday regarding Wednesday.

The end of this season is like a slow torture, I'd be happy to blow the whistle and finish where we are.

No, I’m awake to the possibility of relegation, I just think we should have enough to avoid it. We haven’t gone backwards under Jos, as some fans seem to think, we haven’t moved forward either, but we have arrested the drop we were experiencing under Carlos where we were losing games. We need to keep our head above water until March when we might finally get a couple of players back and that should improve the team.

Maybe we are in it, but we are enough out of it to not be panicking. As you say we need 4-5 wins, that means enough of the teams below us need 6-8 wins to avoid relegation and overtake us.

So now there are four of us facing up to reality: Maddix, Stateside, me and Owlskev. I think SCO is almost there. I wish none of us were.

We are all facing reality, the level of confidence that we will be ok is different, but we all know what is ahead of us for the rest of the season.

Prior to Carlos leaving we had lost 5 or 6 out our 8 or so games and we went on to lose to Burton under Bullen. Since Jos came in we have won 2, drawn 5 and lost 1, not promotion form for sure but better than what preceded it! In there were draws away at Boro and the Blunts as well as a draw at home to Cardiff, games we would likely have lost under Carlos. However you cut it he has stopped the slide down the table we were seeing and we are the same points off the bottom as we were before - hence why I said arresting the drop. More needs to be done, we need to find a way of scoring goals for sure, but we look more solid at the back even with all the injuries.

Injury updates released...
A bit more detail on the current injury situation from what reliable sources have been saying to hopefully put any conspiracy theories to bed. So a breakdown of the 15 missing players:

- Westwood has a groin injury. He returned to training but still felt pain so they are taking their time with that one. With Wildsmith and Dawson playing well, probably no need to rush him back.

- Pudil missed the game yesterday through suspension after his red card against Birmingham last week. Could be back on Tuesday.

- Loovens could be back in contention on Tuesday night after illness. Loovens' most recent problem this season has been a hip injury but there are also long term concerns over his ankle. At 34, it is unlikely that we'll see him playing week in week out over a prolonged period again.

- Lees had groin surgery last year and is fairly close to recovery now. He is set to play for the U23s tomorrow night.

- Van Aken has a hamstring injury at the moment, just a case of having to wait for it to deal. He has had groin and ankle problems in the past so his body appears to be prone to picking up knocks.

- Hutchinson as we know is a very injury-prone player. Has had serious knee problems in the past that nearly forced him to retire. Currently out due to a hernia.

- Lee has had major problems with his hip for a couple of years now. Has been playing through pain when he has had pain and had surgery a couple of times. He is unlikely to fully recover from the injury. He will come back (he isn't set to retire), but when he comes back he might be playing through the pain barrier again.

- Butterfield didn't train last week due to injury. His injury hasn't been specified but it is only a minor problem and he could return on Tuesday.

- Abdi has had a serious knee problem for a while. Can't train and play all the time. Unlikely that we'll ever see him playing regularly back to his best.

- Bannan had a hip injury. Had a setback a couple of weeks ago, injuring his groin on his return to training with the rest of the team.

- Matias has a knee injury and will be out for around three weeks.

- Forestieri did his ACL last season. The medical staff thought he wouldn't need an operation but at the start of this season it became apparent that he did. Has been making his recovery abroad but he has been ill in recent weeks which has slowed things down a bit. Should be back in England to continue his recovery by the end of this month.

- Hooper is another player who has been injury prone throughout his career. Currently has a hip problem but isn't too far away from returning, probably a few weeks.

- Fletcher has had a knee problem for a while. They had been trying to manage the problem but it has recently been operated upon and he will miss the rest of the season.

- Winnall damaged his ACL in a recent win for Derby against Brentford. Will be out for a while and probably miss the start of next season.

Sources - Jos Luhukay, Matt Brown, local Sheffield Star and Radio Sheffield journalists.

Lee and Abdi unlikely to ever be fit again or even train regularly!!! Happily stealing a wage
